Had a lovely date today...

Started to chat online eight days ago. Arranged to meet today. He was even more attractive in person. We had lunch, a walk, constant talk, no awkward silence. He offered to drop me near home. Kissed me before we said goodbye. My knees went weak...

He's messaged again to organize another date (can't do it for two weeks but we had talked about mutual unavailability and just trying to make good the time available). We have also exchanged phone numbers. Had been on dating app solely before that. Made a plan to chat later tomorrow, probably evening (again both have plans for day).

He had plans with friends this evening, I said goodbye for day but he sent a message from restaurant he's in saying it's somewhere we could go on next date. He's too good to be true isn't he?

Please say no!!

He sounds promising to me!

Keeping everything crossed for you. It sounds lovely.

Sodthesystem · 23/08/2026 01:12

I mean realistically if it takes you eight weeks to meet first and two between dates, it’s not going to be a serious thing.

But that doesn’t mean it can’t be a nice thing when you are together.

Wishimaywishimight · 23/08/2026 03:21

@SodthesystemThey've been chatting for 8 days not 8 weeks.

NoCommentingFromNowOn · 23/08/2026 03:30

Ooh this sounds promising! Keep us updated if you can.

(But ”He offered to drop me near home” don’t get in people’s cars even if you’ve already been messaging for a week! On dating sites you can very quickly get lulled into a false sense of security because you’re messaging, meeting, both want something more etc)

OneTake · 23/08/2026 08:38

Sounds promising. 💝

Saintsgirl7 · 23/08/2026 08:41

This was how DH and I started, we were both really busy, then I think something got cancelled with a friend and the other one was free to meet.
We were so keen to meet the first time that we went for a quick coffee, him on the way home from work, me on the way out to dinner. I was late for said dinner!

ForTipsyFinch · 23/08/2026 08:53

He’s a stranger at this point. He could be brilliant or could be a total bellend. No way of knowing until you get to know him. Just take it slowly.

Nosdacariad · 23/08/2026 09:04

It's a good start, watch his actions and stay busy 😘😘😘

Yep. Sounds OK so far but keep your eyes out.

I know! I just didn't think... I'd ground my daughter for doing it. 😊 We plan to meet for dinner in city next time so no cars required.

It will be slow. Our commitments don't allow for anything else. I was a little over excited yesterday, I haven't gone on a date in 18 months. And if I tell anyone in real life, I'll get too many questions...

I just wanted to express my excitement but I know it's very very early days. Normal levels of caution will apply.

He has messaged this morning to wish me a nice day. His friends are there until tomorrow. I have my own plans for the day.

Just keep on talking, let things develop naturally, things sound promising so just see where the mood takes you

There’s only one way to find out….

Brightbluesomething · 23/08/2026 11:09

It’s far too early to tell yet. Try not to get drawn into the excitement and remain grounded. Even those that start out well can ghost or lose interest. Or you find out what they’re really like and it’s very different.
Two weeks until the next date is quite a long time and many things can happen if you’re not both able to see each other regularly.
I do hope it goes well but take things slowly and don’t get too attached too soon.

Nice one! Good to hear a good story.

My only watch out is the 2 weeks between dates. If I was serious about someone I would look to change a plan or two to meet sooner. Sure, if he has a weekend away I am not expecting that to change, but a gym night or something minor should be changeable!

beingtakenforafool · 23/08/2026 23:28

is 2 weeks between dates really that bad if your both busy ? I have just started online dating and any matches are probably 1 hr away so realistically it may be two weeks between dates of both busy as week night meets will be hard. Many people have lomg distance relationships and see each other less. OP uou have made me feel better that there is some hope as so far most I have spoken to have been awful and only after one thing, I thought being older men would be more mature but how wrong am i . hope it goes well

SnowFrogJelly · 24/08/2026 00:24

He is away at the weekend. Midweek is not great for either of us. I'm 9-5 office/home work. He's clinical based so does some evenings. We have scheduled a video call for tomorrow to change up from just texting.

Have you googled him? Anything interesting on social media? His sounds almost too good to be true but I hope it works out for you. Mind yourself.
