Am I overreacting to my husband laughing at another woman on TV?

Husband & I were watching a TV program the other day where a couple with children moved to France to renovate a old property.

The wife, kept on making jokes about her husband.
Some to my mind were slightly inappropriate.
She came across as someone who wanted attention, her husband was the complete opposite.

My husband, thought this woman, was highly amusing, everytime she made a comment or a joke,my husband would start laughing out loud.
This happend numerous times during the 1hr program.

He even had the nerve to ask me if I found her funny? I did not find her funny at all,but manipulating in her broken english.

We have been married over 40 yrs,he's never really been the type to flirt, but I felt he was on this occasion. His behaviour made me feel very uncomfortable!

Am I over reacting,as I am feeling disappointed at the amount of attention he was showing towards this person, while I was present.

I am not usually a jealous person, but feel annoyed by my husband's lack of awareness, regarding how I feel.

I can be hyper vigilant!
Am I being pathetic? Over sensitive as something tells me that I'm not!

Would like to know how you would feel & Your thoughts?

OP you sound truly insufferable.

Dozycuntlaters · 22/06/2026 10:48

What??? You think your husband was flirting......with a woman on the tv. Erm, I don't think you understand what flirting is then. This post is absolutely bonkers.

No not racist, married to a Black male, with two mixed race grown up children, live in a city area.Love diversity! Just because I mentioned Broken english, instead of english being her second language.I'm a racist!

Not that I agree with the PP who said you were racist/xenophobic for mentioning broken English.

But none of what you've written there proves you aren't a racist.

Which if you're married to a black man and have mixed raced children, you should know.

Anyone can be racist regardless of who they're married to.

But as I say, I don't agree with the PP anyway.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 22/06/2026 10:50

They’re clearly shagging.

Whattodo1610 · 22/06/2026 10:52

Am I overreacting to my husband laughing at another woman on TV? .. YES you’re overreacting 🙄🙄

NearlyNewNonny · 22/06/2026 10:53

I believe I've finally reached peak MN...

whippersnapper55 · 22/06/2026 10:54

Yes. Yes you are. Hope that helps.

AbsoluteHoot · 22/06/2026 10:32

Email the tv channel to complain this woman was flirting with your husband.

LOLOLOL

She was sending him her tv signals. LOLOLOL

Inmyuggs · 22/06/2026 10:54

He enjoyed her humour
He found it like minded to his?
I wouldnt be to concerned
Rubbishing a partner seems to be a married persons common behaviour after years they become disrespectful.
Flirting cant be done via a tv.

Twinkeltime · 22/06/2026 10:55

He watching a show and found the woman to be funny and laughed.

I watch shows and laugh out loud its not that I fancy them or flirting with them it because their funny.

You cant flirt with people on TV they cant see you.

For what I read on MN some days it makes me think some women are getting worse.
You can control people.

TheseWordsAreMine · 22/06/2026 10:56

She will be sending him secret subtitles next you watch!

Cloudconfusion · 22/06/2026 10:58

Op, gently is there a back story here in terms of understanding ?

Your husband cannot flirt with a person on a tv program, it’s a digital recording thay thousands if not millions are watching simultaneously.

The person in the recording cannot interact with those watching and the person watching cannot interact with the person in the recording.

it’s not real,it’s not real life. Does that make sense?

dairydebris · 22/06/2026 10:58

This post has got to be rage bait

ainsleysanob · 22/06/2026 11:00

I think your husband needs some sort of congratulatory award for putting up with this absolute batshit bollocks.

Anywherebuthere · 22/06/2026 11:01

Flip this around.

Imagine it was a man getting angry at his wife's reaction to something so trivial on TV.

Op, respectfully you sound unhinged and unreasonable to want to control how your DH is responding to entertainment on TV.

What else about your DH do you try to control or monitor?

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 22/06/2026 11:15

Yet another fake, boring thread. If you want to make stuff up then please make it more interesting.

Twinkeltime · 22/06/2026 11:15

My ex use to get like this.
I was blamed for liking flirting with men on TV.
I feel bad for your husband having to live like it.

blacksax · 22/06/2026 11:15

🤔

Well yeah it made you sound xenophobic/racist. But I'm glad you say you're not because you're married to a black person?! You can be racist against races other than black?

Either way you're wrong and everyone here thinks so, so listen to us please.

CanterThroughChaos · 22/06/2026 11:25

This sounds exactly like the unhinged post about a husband listening to ASMR a couple of days ago, could be rage bait?? 🤷‍♀️

Aposterhasnoname · 22/06/2026 11:30

How can he be flirting with someone on TV? That's one of the most batshit things I've ever read on here, and its a crowded field

Cloudconfusion · 22/06/2026 11:33

Reminds me of the friends episode where Brooke shields character thinks dr drake Ramore is real.😂

on a serious note, if this is genuine, then the op clearly suffers from extreme levels of jealousy, I mean this is as extreme as it gets and is so so mentally unhealthy, to be jealous of a woman on a tv program and think your husband is trying to flirt with a digital recording and pay attention to it.

its one of the odder things I’ve read on here, and yes similar to the poster who is so jealous she wants to end her relationship as her partner listens to asmr.

just really concerning unhealthy extreme stuff.

Brightonkebab · 22/06/2026 13:21

CleanShirtLaundry · 22/06/2026 10:07

You think your husband was flirting with a woman you were watching on TV?

A foreign woman no less! seriously the most unhinged thing I've read recently

Bulldog01 · 22/06/2026 14:07

Thank you for your thoughtful messages. Let's hope you when you reach 66 yrs. When your husband thinks that a female that's annoying, not funny on tv is amusing & laughs.
Would you join in with the laughter! I wonder?🤔

NewcastleNancy · 22/06/2026 14:40

I think your reaction is extreme. He just found her funny. That's it.
