Who unpacks when you come back off holiday ?

Just that really just been away for weekend with DH family.

I packed up at holiday he put stuff in car, he drove 4 hours has now gone to bed left me to unpack car and all stuff for both adults and 1 7 year old. What happens in your case?

We do it together

We all do it.

I do it because I do the laundry.

What's the time where you are? Is it bedtime?

Everyone does their own. Separate cases.

XH would unpack the car. Then I would put the washing on.

Everyone brings it in and we pile up laundry on utility room floor and get washing straightaway

DH tries to pack the car, then steps aback and acknowledges he should have let me from the start…every time!

We each pack our own bags. We each unpack our own bags. It could be either of us who gets the laundry started.

I did tend to do DD’s bag when she was younger, she started doing her own around 14, but leaves the unpacking to 1 of us…she’s not great on getting involved with laundry at home (but has managed to look after herself and have clean clothes for over a year at uni overseas!).

I do because l do the washing, it not a big job l dont mind.
I would leave it until tomorrow if you dont want to do it now.

How much driving did you do? How long was unpacking? If he did all 4 hours of driving, was the packing and unpacking also 4 hrs?

It gets left in the hall , unpacked partly by me partly by DH in piles that languish for weeks u til someone can be bothered to wash or put them away.

Everyone gets the stuff they need together. Clothes then get added to a bag by either me or DH depending on who has time. He tends to load up the car and, if it's a self catering break, sort out kitchen/ food stuff. Same coming home but I tend to unpack clothes straight to the wash. That's mainly because laundry is my job and cooking is his. He also tends to drive as prefers it to being a passenger. It's a pretty fair split I think.

Dh packs to go on holiday and unpacks whilst there - I do the opposite

Mostly DH tbh, he unpacks the car, and he does the laundry so he’d empty out the clothes and get the washing started. I tend to unpack the rest (of mine and DC’s stuff, DH would do his own).

We divide and conquer. We’ll unpack the car together, I’ll usually sort the washing and he’ll get dinner on and sort the animals. And neither of us would just go to bed and leave it all to the other.

We put all dirty stuff on one bag the everything else into another case. We put washing on and anything not on that load is put into laundry basket. Case 1 empty. The other case it taken to our bedroom and unpacked, shoes and toiletries put away etc. usually have both cases unpacked in 20 minutes.

Some luggage never gets unpacked, toiletries etc have their own case and are replenished if needed before next trip.

@Perimenopausal42 Dirty laundry goes in one bag, unworn in another when packing to return. They are brought in immediately, not left in car. Unworn goes back to bedroom and is either left or "lived out of". Laundry done next day.

Also would split the drive if it was 4 hours.

Kids a bit older but we all do it. No one slopes off until there is some semblance of normality. That said, teens take their own bags to their rooms, one unpacks immediately, the other is still partially packed when we next go away!

Everyone does their own, including the DCs. I usually pack the dirty laundry separately so that all stays downstairs and there’s not actually much to unpack anyway.

We all unpack. Dh more likely to carry stuff in the house. I don’t do that. But he would unpack his own stuff. I would unpack my stuff. Teen dd would unpack her stuff. I would do youngest’s stuff.

I have a life hack when it comes to holiday unpacking. We unpack into three laundry bags and take them to the laundrette. About £50 for a full service wash on 2 weeks holiday washing - I pick it up 2 days later.

It’s been game changing in overcoming holiday blues!

When on holiday I have a suitcase for dirty clothes as we always over pack. Clean clothes in a separate case go straight into piles of who they belong to. They put them away. Then me and dh do the many loads of washing.

So it is shared. But dh does all cooking at our house so he wouldnt have gone straight to bed, he would have started cooking a meal.

Everyone packs and unpacks their own stuff. No driving involved.
