I’ve been seeing a guy since Christmas. We met online after a long and exhausting few months of online dating.

At first, he seemed nice and ticked many boxes, but then I noticed some red flags. His ex-wife wasn’t quite so “ex”—he had put in for a divorce while we were dating. His young child understandably became a priority when his ex decided to return from abroad. I get that.

However, I dealt with much of his anger towards his ex and the government's immigration policy, which became my problem as our values differed. It was exhausting.

The final straw for me was his support for a fascist dictator. I knew I had to end things.

I feel sad, thinking, "Oh God, I must go through the whole dating process again."
Just need a handhold 😔 please

That escalated quickly. Sounds like a lucky escape. Tell him to goose step off.

Well done on ditching this prince, bullet dodged. I get that being single may not be your ideal, but it's always better than being with a nobber. Congratulations 🙂 🍰🍾

Don't go thru it again, take a break.

What?! Who’s the fascist dictator?

Mumsnet never disappoints with the batshit posters who genuinely believe their own nonsense.

It’s hyperbole.

Which fascist dictator does he support?

A tenner says that this a reference to Trump.

Nowadays ask for political views first and then try on a date. Honestly, it can’t be more polarised and divisive times.

Should I give you his number? You'd be very happy together. It's funny he used such derogatory language when faced with facts that challenge his absurd views.

Yes, I'm doing that now. It used to be just conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers, but now these individuals are everywhere with their hate-filled rhetoric.

Fascist dictator? From the past you mean? Seems odd to say the least!

aquashiv · 10/05/2025 16:14

They weren't all bad. My biggest gripe was that he pretended to enjoy our debates until I kept proving him wrong with facts. Then, I saw a whole new side of him.

There's a lot of them about at the moment!

(As an aside - was the dictator Putin?)

LightCameraBitchSmile · 10/05/2025 16:18

Everyone pretending like there are no fascist dictators needs to expand their world view a bit

AnotherDayInParadise43 · 10/05/2025 16:21

Come on OP tell us which fascist dictator. If you are confident you can back up your own views.

Surely not any democratically elected leader.

Arlanymor · 10/05/2025 16:28

To all the people asking who the FD is - there is a rather large clue in the title of the post clearly?! Although he's not an FD per se, he certainly shares plenty of attributes in common.

Sorry for your distress OP, but at least better you know now and cut the cord.

I've had enough of responding to that nonsense; I'm ignoring and his irrational, racist fan club. I'll leave them to enjoy the hate-filled bile that comes from his dark soul.

Phew, bullet dodged. Him, not you. Anyone who honestly thinks Nigel Farage counts as a fascist dictator would be really, really tedious to do life with. I think I could be with someone who voted differently to me, but only if they were level headed, rational and intelligent about it. Having to listen to histrionic and plainly inaccurate invective being spewed while I have my morning coffee would grow old very quickly.

PlutoCat · 10/05/2025 16:32

I am sure someone will be along soon to tick you off about name calling etc.

In the meantime, you are well rid.

You poor, unhappy person! 😂🤣 Clearly unable to read anything else I said... your usual type of fan: deluded, racist, and rude.

Nigel Farage schooldays letter reveals concerns over fascism

Channel 4 News obtains a letter about Ukip leader Nigel Farage, from his days as a schoolboy, in which teachers are quoted as accusing him of being "racist" and "fascist".

I would not vote reform. However, Farage isn’t leading a country, so can’t be called a dictator 😁

I'm not confident that he has a soul to be fair... just dust where his soul should be.
