I’ve been seeing a guy since Christmas. We met online after a long and exhausting few months of online dating.

At first, he seemed nice and ticked many boxes, but then I noticed some red flags. His ex-wife wasn’t quite so “ex”—he had put in for a divorce while we were dating. His young child understandably became a priority when his ex decided to return from abroad. I get that.

However, I dealt with much of his anger towards his ex and the government's immigration policy, which became my problem as our values differed. It was exhausting.

The final straw for me was his support for a fascist dictator. I knew I had to end things.

I feel sad, thinking, "Oh God, I must go through the whole dating process again."
Just need a handhold 😔 please

I understand why you might prefer some distance—it's perfectly fine. However, I wouldn't engage with you at all if that’s the case. I encourage you to take a moment to review your sentence structure. Relying on superlatives can sometimes cloud your message. A more straightforward approach could enhance the clarity of your writing. Just a constructive suggestion!

Good name, though highly appropriate too. 😃 stupid boy

"Support for a fascist dictator"

Are you Citizen Smith?

Or Rick from the Young Ones ?

Haha, that's really funny! How long did it take you to think of that?

Well done. Imagine a lifetime of putting up with that shit?

rockstarshoes · 10/05/2025 18:54

Well done Aqual! I wouldn’t want to be dating a loser like that either!

aquashiv · 10/05/2025 19:12

That's exactly right. I have never met a Reformer who is happy or pleasant. It seems as if they view the world as a dark and ugly place, which I find quite abhorrent.

At first, he seemed lovely, but that was clearly just an act.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean. You clearly think you are being clever. Were you responding to a different post?

You shared a comment, and while it may not have been very detailed or original! I’m curious how you feel about the topic. I would love to hear your thoughts, not just a snide jibe.

That's the whole thing though. You aren't interested in what anyone else thinks. You want anyone you interact with to share your views or within parameters you get to set, or you will attack or reject them. People can waste their time trying to get that across to you on here, but you are the one who will be dealing with it. Let's say you meet someone, marry them, and in 5-10 years they develop very different views to you. What are you going to do, not talk to them?

I think people have been eminently reasonable with you on here. You've called me or the other pp stupid (I can't tell which) and don't seem to be able to discuss points with any degree of rationality. You still haven't said who the fascist dictator is. From interacting with you on here, I am inclined to agree with pp, whoever this man is he's had a lucky break and will be better off without you.

LuvACustardCream · 11/05/2025 11:01

I used to put my political leanings on my profile. Kept the bigots away, although some still manage to send hate filled messages. Utter pondlife.

Come on OP tell us which fascist dictator. If you are confident you can back up your own views.

Surely not any democratically elected leader.

I think it's Nigel.

Boredlass · 11/05/2025 11:16

Some people are truly batshit on here

Could you please explain the situation of someone who is openly racist, morally questionable, pays taxes abroad, and claims a pension from the EU?

I completely agree. My concern is with the gullible individuals who believe his claims of being a "man of the people."

You still haven't answered my question; you've just made another unpleasant comment, as I expected.

So I did. He knew who I was and pretended to be non-partisan. However, over time, I realised he was anything but.

I want to thank everyone who has offered their support. I don't feel the need to justify my moral compass to those without a credible reason to support him. Just throw out insults.
