What would you think if someone you were interested in told you they'd been married 4 times?

would you still be interested in them? Or would you run a mile??

Shitemum · 11/05/2008 21:20

I'd think they were a romantic.
I'd want to know what had happened to the other wives!

avenanap · 11/05/2008 21:20

It depends what went wrong. We all make mistakes, sometimes several times over. If he left them all for someone else I would run.

loopylou6 · 11/05/2008 21:21

Id tink he was either rather unlucky, or that there was something seriously wrong with him andyes id run, but i am very cynical

wantyourhonestopinions · 11/05/2008 21:21

lol well I know that they're all still alive if that's what you mean shitemum

well, I'd be glad that he was honest at least, but would be realistic about the possibility of a lasting future.

I'd run. No-one's that unlucky.

oliviaelanasmum · 11/05/2008 21:23

If he blamed everything on his previous wives i would wonder a bit, but my dp has been married twice before and had numerous serious relationships and i gave him a chance. 5 years and 4dc's later we're ok

madamez · 11/05/2008 21:24

That he/she really likes wedding cake. FFS how can any of us know? Ask him/her what happened the last 21 4 times and see what answer you get. If all the XWs are dead then it might be advisable to run away. Particularly if your new pal is the beneficiary of all their life insurance policies. And if he wants you to take out joint life insurance as proof of your lurrve... basiclaly you ight be best advised to RUN LIKE FUCK.

Of course, it could be that your new potential fuckbuddy fiance is a humanitarian who has married a lot of refugees to stop them being deported. But you won't know until you ask.

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 21:25

if they were hot id be interested

Unfitmother · 11/05/2008 21:25

I'd be wary!

wantyourhonestopinions · 11/05/2008 21:27

lol madamez - as frank as always with her opinions .

you see part of me thinks - WTF! 4 of them, don't even go there girl.

The other part of me wonders if I should find out more.......

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 21:27

actually i have never asked my bf anything about his previous relationships so i guess he coiuld have been married four times

SlartyBartFast · 11/05/2008 21:27

actually i know someone in same position, i was shocked and it did briefly put me off them.

Remotew · 11/05/2008 21:28

What his name?. I've been out with a man that was married four times, there cannot be that many can there .

I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Turns out he'd been mostly unfaithful. I finished the relationship and he moved on very quickly which makes me think . I would decline the marriage proposal which will come quite soon into the relationship.

i would speak to the exes! only way you'll find out the REAL story.

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 21:30

maybe it depends a bit how old he is too i fhe is 86 then less surprising than 26

twinsetandpearls · 11/05/2008 21:30

I would run a mile, judgemental yes but probably sensible.

madamez · 11/05/2008 21:31

Well, OP, if you have only just started bonking dating this person then is there really any need to worry? Are you focused on finding a new partner or just on having some fun. TBH if you are gagging to marry then he sounds like quite a good bet as he probably marries anyone who will suck him off. But if you're ust having a bit of fun, chill out and enjoy (but remember the warnings about life insurance).

wantyourhonestopinions · 11/05/2008 21:31

lol he won't get very far if he does propose...., got at least another 1 1/2yrs before I'm legally not married (unless my ex suddenly decides to files for divorce on grounds of unreasonable behaviour by me LOL).

God, I never judge
Smeone I work with is on her 3rd marriage
First one she was very young and married completely the wrong guy
Second one she had her kids with and split up when they were teenagers
3rd time lucky

I judge the woman at work more who is on her 1st marriage but he had been married b4 and left his wife to be with her
And the woman I work with who has been having an affir with a married man for about 20 years...

posieflump · 11/05/2008 21:32

lol I guess I do judge going by the 2nd part of my post

wantyourhonestopinions · 11/05/2008 21:32

actually we didn't bonk - sat and talked all night (told him before we left the bar I wasn't out for a shag) and he didn't try it on either
