Is anyone actually bigger and stronger than their DH/BF?

I know men are supposed to be bigger and stronger than women. I'm 5'6 and my DH is 5'8, but I am more fuller in figure. Therefore I am bigger than him. It isn't a problem but we do make adjustments. It is easier if he sits on my lap (if we're having a cuddle/snog), compared to me sitting on his. Also, I am almost as strong as him but I can carry him if he gives me some warning (usually piggyback, but have managed to carry him like a bride for a few seconds). Does anyone else have a slighter partner?

I imagine that if you got into a proper fight, you would be surprised at how much stronger he is than you.

I'm 5ft 1, and my Ex was 5 ft 8 and very slight of build. He decided to attack me when I was leaving him, and I didn't stand a chance.

My DH now is 6 ft 3 and weighs 20 stone, very much a rugby player physique, so not a cat in hells chance that I could give him a piggy back, lol.

SchrodingersTwat2 · 20/01/2025 15:04

I used to.

He was only about 5cm shorter than me but half my weight! (And I'm only a 14-16). I could carry him around.

Squirrelsnut · 20/01/2025 15:08

You'd be surprised how much stronger even slight men are than women.

TheLastLady · 20/01/2025 15:15

My DH is very slight always has been but his wiry arms are really strong, more so than my flabby ones

sunflowersngunpowdr · 20/01/2025 16:24

I don't mean this in a rude way but how full is your figure that it's easier for a man two inches taller than you to sit on your lap? Being bigger than someone in terms of weight doesn't always mean stronger in terms of muscle. Unless you are wrestling then I guess you'd be about even.

merryhouse · 20/01/2025 17:26

I was heavier than H for over 40 years. When we got married he couldn't pick me up for the photo so I picked him up instead.

However, he is definitely stronger than me.

hopeishere · 20/01/2025 17:36

Not bigger but I am stronger. We did a strength test thing on holiday - pulling a loaded sled - and he could do it for about 30 seconds whereas I could do it for ages. Also when we had to give our son a piggyback he could do it for a block whereas I was able to trudge on and on!!

Interesting thread on reddit; in essence, once boys hit puberty, they are pretty much stronger than any woman, even those who workout.

Not me sadly as I’m very short, but my friend is 5cms taller than her husband and a competitive weightlifter and amateur boxer. He is very slight, her strength far outstrips his!

Ponderingwindow · 20/01/2025 17:45

I’m just as tall as DH and weight about the same as him. DH is not especially fit or strong. He doesn’t lift weights or work out frequently. DH could snap me like a twig if he was so inclined. I don’t think there is any amount of training I could do to catch up with his natural state.

OpalMaker · 20/01/2025 17:47

Deffo not stronger than DP, but 6ft and 80kg - I recently went to a party with DP and his 75kg best friend got on my back for a piggy back and I squatted him for 10 reps.

I work out and lift weights, it’s worth it to occasionally emasculate a bunch of men.

Whelmed · 20/01/2025 17:47

DH is exactly the same height as me. He's always been very slim, whereas i've gained some weight over the years. But he's always been a lot stronger than i am.

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 20/01/2025 17:49

DH is 6'4 but slender, I weigh less than him currently but there have been times when I haven't. Regardless he is still much stronger than me, even when I was heavier I could lift him momentarily but he can carry much heavier things than I can comfortably. When we were first together he was skinny and very unfit , lived on coffee and cigarettes, I ate well and worked out, he was still stronger than me. I think there's something in male muscle density/testosterone that makes even small men stronger than comparably sized women

Shrinkingrose · 20/01/2025 17:51

He sits on your lap??

CheekyHobson · 20/01/2025 17:52

My boyfriend and I are the same height (he might have half an inch on me) and pretty similar weight (he might weigh 5kg more than me).

He walks a great deal and goes to the gym occasionally and naturally has arm and leg muscles that I wouldn’t be able to achieve going to the gym multiple times a week. He is definitely what you would describe as ‘wiry’, think Cillian Murphy (identical height and build).

Does it matter? If you're both attracted to each other...

I couldn't be with a man smaller than me- be it shorter or more slight...it'd make me feel unfeminine! DH is bigger and taller.

Can't imagine a bloke sitting on my lap for a 'snog' thats just a bit weird IMO - I guess everyone has their kinks 🤣

Glad it’s not just me 😂

rainythursdayontheavenue · 20/01/2025 18:00

DH is about 6" taller than me, and 2 stone lighter but he's 100 times stronger than I'll ever be - he likes to squeeze me hello and goodbye and almost takes my breath away. I squeeze him and he asks when I'm going to start as he can't feel it Hmm

this gave me the major ick, sorry

I recently had an arm wrestle with a 15 year old lad. He was shocked when I beat him. I think he thought his mum was turning up, but indeed the rematch he won - he brought his A game 😂

And this one. Can’t people keep their unnecessary opinions to themselves? The OP didn’t ask for people to express disgust at the way she and her partner express affection.

DaDaDoDaiDa · 20/01/2025 19:35

My DH is a 'teeny-tiny' man so most adult women are heavier than him, I always have been even at my slimmest. He's quite wiry though, I can't beat him in an arm wrestle for example.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 20/01/2025 19:36

I’m 5’6” and DH is 5’10” but I weigh at least 2st more than him. He’s athletic and very active, I’m very obese and not very active.

Im glad he’s several inches taller than me as it stops me feeling a lot bigger than him, even though I’m much heavier.

seelookhearboo · 20/01/2025 19:39

Not at all. I get very annoyed when he beats me at physical contests, it's not very gentlemanly 😂
