Confused why my female friend asked me this question

Yesterday my female friend asked me out of nowhere if I’m her husband and if we are both meant to meet one another. She also asked me if me and her are going to get married one day which I replied you never know. I just stared at her while she was in front of the mirror and tried to understand why would she ask me this question. This is the first time she asked me this. I was a bit tipsy and did not think anything of it until I woke up the next morning thinking about what she said. I’m confused.

@PreciousCry So are you heterosexual and is she not? Or was she talking about past lives where you knew each other as husband and wife?

Edited

😆 I doubt she meant if were with each other in are past lives.. She was asking me if I was her husband and if were meant get married.

I gathered that eventually. 😁I think she was tentatively sounding you out about a romantic relationship rather than a platonic one if I'm being honest!!

Yeah that is the same thing I thought.

I don't understand why you didn't just laugh and say don't be silly we are just friends and we'll never be together.

😔 I can't do that. I just told her the honest truth that we never know what will happen in the future.

Easier said than done though, especially if you are confused about your own feelings and also a bit drunk at the time which makes you second guess your reading of the situation.
OP, I agree with other posters who have advised you first work out what YOU want, and what your true feelings are before trying to work out hers. Then, once you know what you feel, you might find it easier to either let her know that you see her as friend, not as a partner, or that you do in fact have feelings for her and would like to know where she stands. I know you have said you would find this hard, but it really does help to avoid all the potential hurt feelings on both sides if you try to carry on second guessing each other. I hope it resolves for you soon, and in the way you want it to. Good luck!

I still do not understand why she would ask me this question when I know what type of men she likes so to me I'm confused. Like she literally tells me what type of men she likes so I felt confused by what she was trying to say but I will definitely listen to your advice.

OP, this is not a situation in which deduction and logic is going to give you an answer. It might have been a momentary drunken impulse she forgot about immediately. The only way you’re going to find out is to ask her. But you should decide whether you’re interested in dating her. If not, what she meant is irrelevant, and you can just forget it.

Understood. Forgot to say I was tipsy but not her.

I can see how that would be confusing. But is it possible that even though you are not her ‘usual type’ she still has feelings for you? That could be confusing her too! Even more reason to know what your feelings are, and then let her know, either way. You cannot fix her confusion for her but you can at least know in your own mind and heart what you feel.

Great what you said. I would have to think more about it.
