Hello,

would anyone be open to sharing their hints, tips, red flags and other useful information about online dating.

I’ve been single for a few years and now feel like I would quite like to meet someone.

I have no experience of online dating whatsoever so anything useful you could share would be appreciated.

My biggest red flags:

Poor spelling and grammar in messages. (I don't expect perfection or best selling author levels but stringing understandable sentences together is an absolute must.)

Suggesting we meet at their house / near their house / in their town (no thank you. I'll stay near where I know and places I've been. If they refuse that, bye bye)

Being horrible to wait staff (get fucked with that bollocks)

Anything even remotely 'pervy' before we've met (no thanks. If we meet and there's mutual attraction, a bit of gentle flirting, innuendo is fine, but even then anything pervy can fuck off.)

Tales of "Crazy Ex" (nope. Bye bye. If most exs they've ever had are 'crazy', chances are those women have been driven crazy...)

I'd take elements of their profile and search online.

Many scammers will cut and paste from other profiles, so if you find repeated elements, be very wary. These often come with tell-tale punctuation issues too.

Similarly, do a reverse image search on a few of their profile pictures.
