I instantly demand to know who it was meant for. He flat out denied he sent it and he’s saying it’s a hack. Timeline so has it that he was with his dad on the way home. His dad swears blind he wasn’t on his phone to send the message.

so tell me tales of this actually being a possibility or that I’m hearing for a divorce with a newborn.

If you have a chat backup enabled, you can recover deleted messages. On Android: WhatsApp automatically backs up your chats to Google Drive by default. On iPhone: WhatsApp backs up to iCloud.

But don't deleted WhatsApp show as deleted? They don't just disappear

Uninstall WhatsApp and reinstall it. It will install to the last backup.

Technically, it is a possibility that this happened. It is not likely though.

A deleted message only shows as deleted if you delete it for everyone, so whoever you sent it to will see a message has been deleted. If it's only deleted from the screen of the person who sent it, nothing shows that it was deleted.

Tap Menu > Backups
WhatsApp backups will appear in the list if they are saved to your Google Account

You think he accidentally sent you a message. He says he didn't send it and it's a glitch. If you're right the message will show as sent or deleted in his conversation with you. If he's right there will be no sent message to you.

You can delete the “message deleted” banner. I’ve done it.

My WhatsApp only backs up once a week, so any messages between back ups aren’t saved.

online Google drive has no results. Doesn’t look like he has linked the accounts. Which he’s a moron with computers so isn’t sus.
