I found an engagement ring!!!!!

After almost 7 years together and hoping that I'd get a proposal... I've just accidentally found the ring!!!!!!!! Putting his flaming underwear away, stuffed at the back of the drawer! Of course I looked... tried it on... it's exactly what I'd wanted and is my size! I'm overjoyed! But annoyed I found it too!

I can't tell anyone of course... I have to keep it all in! But... ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I'm just so freakin' excited!!!!!!!

I really hope he does it soon... he knows I don't do flashy, public things. So I'm hoping it's romantic and just the two of us, or just our family (we both have children from previous relationships). He knows me so well though so I'm sure it will be lovely. He's a teacher, so I'm guessing something might happen over the summer holidays 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞. Or perhaps it could be later this year near my 40th. I'm guessing it won't be for my 40th though, he wouldn't do it then. But he might do it around that time.

Sorry for all the exclamations marks! I'm a little excited as you can probably tell. Grin

Are you certain it;s for you? Has he been engaged previously and it's a returned ring - just being negative.

Sitdownrosa · 09/08/2024 09:50

I'm totally invested here! He better ask you!

Oh do be quiet. What an awful thing to suggest.

lifeisafunnyoldgame · 09/08/2024 09:56

I don’t think one man has ever had so many people simultaneously waiting for him to pop the question 😂.

Yeah it's much healthier to just pretend nothing else happens in life and just tell people what they want to hear that always works

NutellaEllaElla · 09/08/2024 10:12

God hurry up soon to be fiance! We've got lives here 😂
This is a gorgeous thread. OP, I hope you can enjoy your trip!

Pipsquiggle · 09/08/2024 10:27

Is he really crap at finding things in general?
Maybe shift the box in the drawer so it's more obvious.

Choochoo21 · 09/08/2024 10:28

I wouldn’t worry if he doesn’t take it on holiday, he may be worried about losing it or you seeing if etc.

He obviously has a date in mind but it could be when you least expect 😁

I've had 4 wedding rings and 1 marriage!

I bought my own wedding ring for £5.00 from a charity shop in 2011 but because of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis the knuckle and finger swelled up so as time went on I bought a medium-sized man's wedding ring from M&S for £10.00, then more swelling so I found another in another charity shop for £7.00 then recently in Skipton at the outdoor markets I found another for £12.00!

All 3 of the sisters are in my jewellery box! I just HAVE to wear a ring of some sort as I feel weird and ''unmarried'' without one!

No doubt sooner or later I'll have to buy a 5th ring!

When I didn't have an actual ring I wore an elastic band as a wedding ring because it expanded as when my finger and knuckle did! HA!

You can get an adjustable ring which looks just the same from the front, with just the little gap at the back to make it more comfortable as finger and knuckle swelling goes up and down. If your finger swells to an uncomfortable level it is then much easier to remove as you don't have to have it cut off.

Unless your mythical "other fiancee" has the exact same taste in rings as OP, then NO, it's not a returned ring and shame on you for trying to bring down what is a joyful thread amongst all the other doom and gloom in the World at the moment. What do you say at birthday parties? "Happy birthday, another year closer to death".

Seriously?! Is this sarcasm? Feminists have gone so insane a woman can’t even put her boyfriends underwear away for him and be excited about a proposal? Your lucky husband/partner (if one would have you)

Just on the underwear bit, tasks still have to be divided, I do all household washing - doesn't mean dh doesn't do anything, just not the washing!

I saw an update and thought it had happened! Please keep us updated, what a lovely thread x

JumpstartMondays · 09/08/2024 10:49

I'm rooting for you @ThisMustBeMyDream ! 🤞 Enjoy your holiday

Allthingsbrightandbeautifulx · 09/08/2024 10:52

He’s leaving it last minute to hide it in his pocket isn’t he 😂 I keep checking for a last minute update.
Have an amazing holiday.

poppymango · 09/08/2024 10:54

If I were you I would stop checking the drawer and let it be a surprise - you know it’s coming soon but you don’t know when, or what he has planned… and that’s part of the fun!

You actually sat and typed that out.

Bet you're fun at parties

Didimum · 09/08/2024 10:58

Following with much anticipation!

alrightluv · 09/08/2024 10:59

Oh wow he has some patience! I hope it's soon 🙏

For what reason are you being negative, you bloody mood hoover??

If you want a grumble, get on to that thread where the woman got annoyed with her husband using the oven in the hot weather. A much better use of your negative energy.

Invested in this one @ThisMustBeMyDream - like a coiled spring!

showeringthisaft · 09/08/2024 11:01

He's probably rooting around because you're in the room. Give the man some space! 😂
