Does anyone know what this picture is please? It's not a padlock. Just a flat piece of metal with Room 5 engraved on it? Has anyone seen similar before + enlighten me please?

What is this please?

There's so much backstory here

Why not just ask him outright OP?

Jaydafran · 29/06/2024 22:03

Jeez its the shape of a padlock, its got a number on it. Its got Room 5 on it. Its a bloody keyring for a padlock but we dont know where to. How big is it? Photo needed next to a pound coin.

DeliciousApples · 29/06/2024 22:09

I'd be in his phone if I suspected foul play from this. And I think you'd be right.

VeryStressedMum · 29/06/2024 22:24

It looks like a hotel key thing but not a 'nice' hotel as they all usually have keycards , maybe a b&b or something like that.

I doubt he would have put it on his keys if it was something incriminating

CherrySocks · 29/06/2024 22:32

Not much use without a key. Looks old-fashioned. Does he go to antique shops?

ScottBakula · 29/06/2024 22:37

You say he is retired, but is it possibly off a works locker key from the past ?

Charlize43 · 29/06/2024 22:45

3rd floor, building 1 Room 5

I did a temp contract at a school that had key fobs similar to this.

ByRealHelper · 29/06/2024 22:58

No he doesn't keep any mementos or anything like that. I'm the sentimental one + will keep things for years if they mean something

OP posts:
Copperoliverbear · 29/06/2024 23:00

Maybe he found it. ?

ByRealHelper · 29/06/2024 23:10

He's been retired for bout 2 years now + this only just showed up recently so don't think work locker. He had his own managerial office, no lockers etc

Cos I know I won't get a straight answer from him so was hoping to get an idea of what it was from external sources. There are other little niggly things going on, just like trying to put a jigsaw together.

Why are you with a man who won't give you a straight answer to "What is this?" Why be with a man you don't trust?

Nigellasstickytoffeepudding · 29/06/2024 23:18

Looks like a keyhole cover to me.

ByRealHelper · 29/06/2024 23:30

He doesn't disappear but I work 4 days a week + he doesn't so he has plenty of free time away from me

OP posts:
Ariel45 · 29/06/2024 23:30

Unless you're going to ask him we can't really do much but speculate. It could be a keyring for a hotel. It could be something he's had for years. It could be something he picked up off the ground. God knows.

I'd be in his phone if I suspected foul play from this. And I think you'd be right.

I know a lot of MN posters see this as a total no no but given the vibe coming from your posts OP can you not do this?

You are obviously dont trust him:
You said multiple little things that don't add up.
You expect him to lie to you if you ask him straight out.
You are conscious of the opportunity he has while you are working to get up to stuff.
The wondering and need to know about what this tag is.

It doesn't sound a happy situation to be in. Can you not get access to his phone to try and find answers? I know having to do so is a bad sign but it sounds as though you really don't trust him anyway.

ByRealHelper · 30/06/2024 09:16

I could get into his phone but his WhatsApp can only be unlocked by facial recognition

OP posts:
JustRollWithIt · 30/06/2024 09:35

If this is the route you want to take, if you can get into a phone, you could most likely go to Settings then Face ID and Passcodes, then look for the WhatsApp app listed in there and turn off Face ID for a moment for that app. I'm not making a judgement on whether this is the right thing to do or not, but just saying that's how it could probably be done.

Moier · 30/06/2024 09:45

I told you it's a dog tag.
They come in all shapes.
My Grandad had one ...for rabies vaccination...
The dogs were put into quarantine in certain rooms.
Then the military had them for working dogs.. to make sure they didn't have rabies.

What is this please?

New addition. I live with him + have known him for years so I know he has lost nobody close to him so no sentimental value.
Also, I found this a few weeks + removed it + he has not brought the subject up.

Bit controlling that you "found this" atrached to his keys and you removed it".
