So long-term poster, (name change here for privacy but imagine nice ham: school run dress et cetera. )

My husband has recently told me that he wants to buy some white breeches to look like a Regency heartthrob.

Slightly concerned our watching Bridgerton might have caused this.

has anyone else had this and where can I buy the aforementioned trouser!

No, but my mid 70s Dad just bought them as he declared belts to be uncomfortable.

Sillystrumpet · 25/05/2024 21:35

It’s just knee length trousers, he will just look like he’s wearing long shorts.

Breeches1 · 25/05/2024 21:35

Are you understanding this as dungarees

Are you thinking of braces?

Long white shorts

Yes, plenty of men wear white shorts in summer,

Wizardcalledoz · 25/05/2024 21:37

He'll look absolutely bonkers - but you're more bonkers if you do the researching and buying of said outer layer long John's

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 25/05/2024 21:37

Breaches of the peace maybe when he's singing after too much whisky

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 25/05/2024 21:41

If he dons white breeches, he will look like he escaped from a fencing competition.

Is he intending to wear them solely in the bedroom?

HappiestSleeping · 25/05/2024 21:42

It would take more than white breeches to make me look like a Regency heart throb 😞

ToMowOrNotToMow · 25/05/2024 21:42

You need to look at equestrian suppliers.

Men in breeches are absolutely incredibly attractive!!

Something like this:

No but mine has some lederhosen

Lunde · 25/05/2024 21:48

Ooh - he fancies himself as Mr Darcy! Is he getting the leather knee boots as well?

This thread wins Mumsnet tonight.

He hasn’t thought this through. These breeches were not elasticated, so to make them really tight I’m not sure sitting down would be comfortable, and they have numerous buttons, and you have to put the silk stockings on first so that the breeches hold them up. All very faffy before you get to the tight coat, beneath which there was often a corset of some sort, and the starched neck cloth.

MrsMoastyToasty · 25/05/2024 23:59

He won't look out of place if you take him to the Jane Austin festival in Bath this September.

TakeOnFlea · 26/05/2024 00:15

Brilliant. I like him
