My husband has recently told me that he wants to buy some white breeches to look like a Regency heartthrob.

Slightly concerned our watching Bridgerton might have caused this.

No, but my mid 70s Dad just bought them as he declared belts to be uncomfortable.

It’s just knee length trousers, he will just look like he’s wearing long shorts.

He hasn’t thought this through. These breeches were not elasticated, so to make them really tight I’m not sure sitting down would be comfortable, and they have numerous buttons, and you have to put the silk stockings on first so that the breeches hold them up. All very faffy before you get to the tight coat, beneath which there was often a corset of some sort, and the starched neck cloth.

He won't look out of place if you take him to the Jane Austin festival in Bath this September.
