Does your husband have breeches?

So long-term poster, (name change here for privacy but imagine nice ham: school run dress et cetera. )

My husband has recently told me that he wants to buy some white breeches to look like a Regency heartthrob.

Slightly concerned our watching Bridgerton might have caused this.

has anyone else had this and where can I buy the aforementioned trouser!

Are you thinking of braces?

Oh yes. I didn’t even think about anyone wearing breeches.

There’s some discussion of me wearing a bustle too. But I think I’ve shut that one down

No, you need a nice empire line muslin frock and bonnet.
He obviously needs boots with the breeches, and an appropriate shirt etc.

It sounds adorable. Can you throw him a fancy dress party for an excuse to get the gear and make it happen!

Assuming your husband is 6 foot tall with great thighs and bum, I imagine he’ll look amazing. Any equestrian shop can sell you basic breeches which you could make look Regency-ish with a bit of imagination.

If you want something more historically accurate, try the brilliantly named https://www.stitchandstitchability.co.uk/product-page/regency-breeches-or-trousers

Lots of Insta accounts he could take inspiration from, such as https://www.instagram.com/pinsent_tailoring?igsh=NDJuN281amNjY2Mz

Where is he planning to wear them?

Gorgonemilezola · 26/05/2024 08:31

He's going to need the rest of the kit too though or he'll look ridiculous - breeches with birkenstocks and a polo shirt = not a good look.

Breeches1 · 26/05/2024 08:42

Ha ha

was thinking more an oiled chest

If he wants authenticity you need Zack Pinsent - he's on Instagram and Facebook.

Birkenstocks no, a t-shirt definitely no, but surely actual polo players wear the eponymous garment with breeches?

Why does he want to look like 17th century mill owner? Bizarre

No, but my mid 70s Dad just bought them as he declared belts to be uncomfortable.

That britches dear, not breeches

EDIT - braces not bloody britches!

Does he have a horse?
