Blindsided by breakup

My boyfriend of just over a year has messaged me this morning saying he wants a break to figure out what he wants.

I didn’t see this coming at all and feel completely blindsided and heartbroken. And the fact that he did it over a message too.

I haven’t replied to him as I don’t know what to say. To my mind a break is a break up.

I know I will get over this, we’ve only been together a year but I just feel devastated at the moment.

Do I reply or just leave it and try to move on?

Just a little update on this. Ex got in touch to collect his stuff (he had a lot of things here). When he got here, he actually looked upset! I was polite but standoffish.

He then messaged when he got home to say he missed me and could we be friends to see what happens 🙄

I haven’t replied, I honestly think he was expecting me to be a mess, begging to go back to how we were and didn’t like that I seem to be doing ok.

I have zero intention of getting in touch with him, ever. I’m enjoying having my time back to myself 😊

Well done OP!!
He sounds pathetic. He thinks he’s some sort of prize 😂

That’s a good update! Well done.
