How old were you when you met your best friend

I'm 36 and don't have anyone I am particularly close to but I struggle meeting new people now I'm older. Is there hope for me yet?

I don't have one best friend but maybe nine or ten people who are my closest friends. I met 3 of them when I was at junior school, one as a teenager, about five of them in my 20s and maybe one on my 30s. I do find it harder to make very close friends as I get older.
All my close friendships were established when I was much younger.
I now seem to make more superficial friendships in my late 40s. It's quite sad but I'm grateful to have some really good friends.

We met at 11. Gone through a lot of life together so far!
