I divorced my ex of 25 years as he had an affair and got the other woman pregnant. I hate that, 6 years on from divorce, I still think about it daily. I would NEVER go back there and have no feelings for him at all (other than repulsion) but I just can't get him out of my head. I heard our wedding song on the radio today and was furious with myself for not being able to just 'not remember' these things.

I can't make it ok for my dcs ever again.

That's what I find distressing.

They see their father again but they know what he is, what to look out for etc.

They are also very aware how financially precarious our lives are now because he squandered so much of our family money.

You have a heart and you're a human you have feelings.. even in your 90s if something takes you back to a sad or traumatic memory you will feel emotional. With time, these sad moments will become fewer. Counselling may help you vent and get these feelings out
