How often do you have sex when you have a little one?

Mum8929 · 19/02/2024 19:52

I have had a hard time to get in the mood since becoming pregnant my DD is just over a year old and I can probably count how many times DH and I have had sex. I feel a lot of guilt but just so exhausted and he’s not actively trying so it prob happens about once a month. Is this normal or are we doomed?

Ihatenicknames · 19/02/2024 19:52

You may want to rephrase your question...

SoulMole · 19/02/2024 19:53

😳

Wolfpa · 19/02/2024 19:53

You need to rename your title

User373433 · 19/02/2024 19:53

Unfortunate thread title, you might want to get it edited 😳

You may want to rephrase your question...

I’m self medicating a toothache and kept thought I was misreading it at first. That’s clearly not what she meant but even the split second of having to think about it is not nice

EveryOtherNameTaken · 19/02/2024 19:54

Oooops!!😳

Simonjt · 19/02/2024 19:55

Well you’ll be pleased to know neither of us have had sex with either of our little ones.

When our daughter was a year we’d only just started back up really, and neither of us had given birth. Shes now 2 and a bit and we’re back to normal, if anything were a bit above what our previous normal was.

Onelifeonly · 19/02/2024 19:56

More than one way to read that! Several actually.

Tiddlywinkly · 19/02/2024 19:57

God, yeah reword the title.

passiveconstellation · 19/02/2024 19:57

This is why grammar matters.

countdowntomexico · 19/02/2024 19:58

Are we talking penis size?

Mummyofthewildones · 19/02/2024 19:58

Worst thread title ever.

shoppingshamed · 19/02/2024 19:59

I clicked to find out what little one you were having sex with

BlackBean2023 · 19/02/2024 19:59

My DH doesn't like it when I call it that but once a week or so

LilyMumsnet · 19/02/2024 20:00

We've updated the title now!

Hi all,

We've updated the title now!

Not sure that’s much better 🤣

housefacelift24 · 19/02/2024 20:01

Oh my life

lolomoon · 19/02/2024 20:01

Absolutely normal in my opinion. Me and my DH have sex around once a month, and our son is 3.
Whatever you are both comfortable with. Be it once a month, or once a day, everyone has different drives and desires in their sex lives.

Invisimamma · 19/02/2024 20:02

Just here for the replies 🤣

Personally I never have sex with little ones.

Hi all,

We've updated the title now!

What on earth was it before, if that's the improvement?!

Lavender14 · 19/02/2024 20:03

Dh and I were in a real dry spell until ds turned 13 mths. We probably had sex twice in the first year plus two other instances of intimacy just not the whole shebang.

When ds started to sleep more and was happy to be left with in laws for babysitting it did get easier. We were definitely in a real room mate stage for a long time and now we're trying to make a point of having more fun and dates and we started out trying to rebuild affection and then intimacy little by little. I wouldn't say you are doomed but I would say you need to talk about it very openly and honestly and sometimes you do need to actively make it a priority because for me, when I fell out of the way of it it kind of affected my libido further so it became like a cycle. Also just so you're aware breastfeeding can affect hormone levels and contribute to lack of libido as well.
