So my husband has just told me this morning he's going to butlins for the weekend with the lads. Can anyone be honest with me and tell me what happens there?
Thanks in advance.

I’ve got friends who go to the Bognor weekends and tbh it’s just a girls weekend having a laugh fot them.

Yea they do have a reputation for being a bit sleazy but there’s all sorts who go there for various different reasons.

Kissmas · 11/09/2023 14:12

Get smashed and snog someone dressed as Ginger Spice usually

Reggiebo · 11/09/2023 14:14

Lots and lots of drinking and all subsequent behaviour that goes with it. We were due on site for a family break after an 80s weekend. The camp was wrecked.

Reggiebo · 11/09/2023 14:19

Kissmas...mankinis were popular..plus we did a golly been escorted from the tent.

MrsGr8 · 11/09/2023 14:35

Thank you all for replying. I am worried as most of the lads are single and my husband isn't even into 90s music but I do know he likes his alcohol and when he does go out he does get noticed by ladies. I'm being paroniod, I know. I've never been to one so don't know what it's like. It's not like he'd be coming home to me either, as they'll have apartments.

It's a piss up / drug up weekend depending on your preference.

sheeplikessleep · 11/09/2023 14:42

I go to Shiiiine weekend every year and that is so far removed from this reputation. No hassle, everyone friendly but no sleaziness and I feel totally comfortable there. Really lovely crowd, I feel much more relaxed than other festivals.

Dont know what 90s one is like though.

Oblomov23 · 11/09/2023 14:47

You should probably address your lack of trust. Your core issue. I've been on girls weekends to most European cities, Dh been on stag weekends, both been to Butlins weekends together. Never worried about him cheating, and I certainly never have.

Maddy70 · 11/09/2023 14:48

I've finally a few. They're great fun. I've been on a girls weekend and a family one with my husband and adult children. Great fun. Lots of fancy dress

Nothing goes on there that doesn't happen anywhere else of you don't trust him them that's a different issue

Maddy70 · 11/09/2023 14:50

Can't edit on the app !!

I've done a few 90s.

There are lots of girls and boys weekends so if you are worried then there is definitely that opportunity but that opportunity is there every weekend ...

Your trust is your issue

I do the SPW at Bognor every year and it’s 💯 about the love of music
Totally a million miles removed from the middle aged shag and hen fest reputation that Butlins weekends have.

sheeplikessleep · 11/09/2023 15:19

@SamW98 what is SPW?

Southport Weekend - though it’s in Bognor these days

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/09/2023 15:24

Fights, vomiting in the street, locals dare not go out on the seafront, stags, drinking, drugs and grim accommodation.

Ilikewinter · 11/09/2023 15:51

Ive done them as part of a girl group and group of couples. Ive never seen vomit in the street or fighting and not all of the accompdation is grim!. I would say it's like any other night out, yes the opportunity is there to sleep around if thats what you want...but of course your DH can say no ....oh and after 3 nights of drinking I need a week to recover 😉

I have been many times and that's not my experience at all. I have stayed in the hotels and apartments and its just a good laugh and fancy dress.
However, Its whatever you want it to be. If you are up for cheating on your partner then you don't need to go to butlins to do it. I have no intention of cheating despite others 'cracking on' I have still had a good time and just say no!

PizzaPastaWine · 11/09/2023 16:00

The location is irrelevant. You clearly have trust issues.

What's the bigger picture OP?

NooNakedJacuzziness · 11/09/2023 16:12

There was a report on local news last week of people complaining about rats, mould and faeces on the walls so he might not hang around too long!

HauntedPencil · 11/09/2023 19:38

If you can't trust him he could be anywhere I don't think it would matter. I know plenty of people that have been for a group holiday to spend time with their friends - not something I'd associate with a shagger on the look out

I wonder if your DH has a history of not being faithful? Or is this a worry of yours particularly?

Where so I signs

YupIKnow · 11/09/2023 19:42

He told you he is going - do the pair of you not even discuss it out of respect for each other?

HauntedPencil · 11/09/2023 20:15

I wouldn't expect to ask permission for a weekend away as long as the dates are ok, that's what we check with each other.

JoeyRamonesHair · 11/09/2023 21:29

I went last year! Did not see a single person snogging in a corner so if that's what he's after he'll be sorely disappointed... Lots of couples and groups of friends there, plus people dressing up as e.g. a giant panda. First night was a bit messy, but on the seocnd night everyone remembers they are a bit older & can't manage 3 days straight so it all calms down.

CherryCokeFanatic · 11/09/2023 21:31

Been to a few. Lots of hen and stag groups. Lots of couples in groups. Lots of lads and ladies groups. The singles amongst them do try to pull. There is some lewd behaviour but mostly just for fun and to let hair down - imagine hens having a list of challenges like getting a random lad to swap outfits etc. the Facebook groups sometimes have pics of people shagging in bushes etc

KellyJonesLeatherTrousers · 11/09/2023 22:51

Speaks volumes if your first thought is about him being ‘noticed by ladies’ when he’s going away for a weekend! Do you not trust him?
