Engagement ring

How 'normal' is it these days for a couple to shop together for a ring? My feeling is that many couples look together rather than it be a surprise.

DH chose mine 6 years ago ish. I trust his taste though. 2nd time around for both and I'd argue even more important (though I know many wouldn't agree).

We shopped together over 30 years ago. My best friend got married around the same time and also went shopping for the ring with her fiancee, she got married again about 10 years ago and designed her own ring this time. Everyone I know choose their own engagement ring.

We shopped together. If I'm going to be wearing it for the rest of my life, I want to have a say in what it looks like. I didn't want a typical engagement ring so it wouldn't have been fair to expect my husband to choose one I'd like.

Thank you, we are planning to get engaged and my OH is doing a lot of research on rings, I do trust his taste but I also think I'd quite like to look together.

You're the one that's got to wear it
