Why do men call some women "Bitches "?

Just read a thread where a man wants a woman but doesn't want a "Bitch "
What makes a woman a "Bitch " to a man ? I've been described as a Bitch and a Ice Queen by men .

What men call women bitches?

That's what I'm asking

'Bitches' tend to be women with strong opinions that differ to the man they are talking to.
'Bitches' are the women who don't alter the strong opinion they have and fall in line with the man they are talking to.
'Bitches' are women that don't sit in utter deference to the man they are talking to.
So basically 'bitches' are women who don't meekly agree with a man in my experience.
I am a bitch, and happy with it.

SylvanianFrenemies · 21/01/2023 11:16

Men who call women "bitches" are great because they make it clear they are horrible misogynists whom you should have nothing to do with.

user8545 · 21/01/2023 11:17

I think a woman is called a bitch when someone feels threatened by her in some way, insecurity.

ShakespearesBlister · 21/01/2023 11:18

You mean why do SOME men call some women bitches?

JosephJoseph · 21/01/2023 12:20

Some working class men use that term but they also curse their male friends and family affectionately and otherwise specially the C word.
If you do or say anything that displeases them, even if you have every right to, then to them you are a B.

Some women refer to each other as B.

IntentionalError · 21/01/2023 12:23

In my experience, it’s far more common for women to call each other ‘bitches’ than for men to use that word. Perhaps that reflects the sort of decent, respectful men I know…

QueenieL1 · 21/01/2023 13:00

They mean women who make them feel threatened and insecure. Women who will stand up for themselves and not tolerate poor behaviour.

QueenieL1 · 21/01/2023 13:03

They probably didn't have the best relationship with their mums either.

lljkk · 21/01/2023 13:04

Women call women bitches.
Sheesh, we all use the word Bastard pretty freely, too.
And as for the use of cunt on MN...

YRGAM · 21/01/2023 13:15

I'm a man in my 30s and I haven't heard another man call a woman a bitch, in any context, since I was at school. Who are you associating with?

Watchkeys · 21/01/2023 13:18

Why do you care? Why psychoanalyse people that you can just refuse to have in your life?

LakeTiticaca · 21/01/2023 13:44

My gay boss used to call us " his bitches" and woe betide anyone who disrespected his bitches 🤣

GreyCarpet · 21/01/2023 14:07

I think everyone else has covered it really.

Inadequate and insecure men who expect women to hang on their every word.

LakeTiticaca

I'm never sure why women think it's ok when gay men use misogynistic slurs. They're still men with varying degres of espect for women. Just like any other. The fact they don't want to fuck us doesn't make them 'better'.

Exactly. No need to know anything else about them.

If a man calls you a bitch, it’s a compliment in this day and age. What they mean is simply that they want a doormat; a submissive “Yes-woman” who will do whatever he asks. Not allowed a career, especially one where you hold a higher position and/or earn more than him. Some men may even label it is “uppity”.

Ignore them.

These are men that need someone (preferably female) to make them feel like they rank higher in the hierarchy, so to speak.

If he calls you bitch again, just make sure that your response is something along the lines of “well, sure, you’d know one since you were raised by one”.

And then leave the bastard.

Rant over :-)

Watchkeys · 21/01/2023 14:21

Dangerous thing to say as a blanket statement on a forum where lots of women are victims of abusive men. It's often very very far from being a compliment.

Watchkeys · 21/01/2023 14:22

Is this genuine advice? Last time I heard anything like that was at high school.

Rollercoaster1920 · 21/01/2023 14:50

I thought bitch meant the woman spoke badly about other people and generally treated people badly / is selfish!

Interesting lots of different opinions.

RandomPerson42 · 21/01/2023 14:59

“bitching” is done by men just as much as women, but in my day men called women bitches and women called men bastards. When someone calls someone a name like these they have “lost the arguement”.

Some men find bitches attractive just like some women find bastards attractive.

I know the scenario you mean but the word bitching has multiple meanings, it can mean “exceptional” for example.

YouAreNotBatman · 21/01/2023 15:00

Men who don’t like it when women don’t fall in line, are usually the one’s using these kind of words againts women.

So, women who don’t date them (or men), have sex with them, want kids.
If you’re not a insecure man pandering fool who just shrugs it off when it comes to porn/ sex work, woman will be called a bitch.
If woman foesn’t want a useless, lazy, bad habit, man baby - she may be called a bitch.
Also if woman isin’t attractive, she’s a bitch.

Fo you see where I’m going.
The women who don’t toe the line, gets called (all sorts of) name.

donttellmehesalive · 21/01/2023 16:08

Well try to imagine a really awful man. The sort of men we all know are out there amongst the great ones.

The abusers, the users, the cocklodgers, the lazy arses who want to be waited on, the ones who kick off if you fail to do something to their satisfaction, the ones who pick arguments, the ones who take everything you do for granted. A bitch is a female version of any of those.

donttellmehesalive · 21/01/2023 16:13

But then any of these awful men might call a kind, good woman a bitch just because she doesn't toe the line.

Just as an awful woman might call a kind, good man any of the above because he doesn't dance to her tune.

So, really, very difficult to define and meaningless as an entirely subjective term imo.

KettrickenSmiled · 21/01/2023 16:29

You think it's class related?! Wowsers. Good luck with going through life imagining you won't find a middle-class misogynist.
