Why do men call some women "Bitches "?

Just read a thread where a man wants a woman but doesn't want a "Bitch "
What makes a woman a "Bitch " to a man ? I've been described as a Bitch and a Ice Queen by men .

Bitches = good self esteem and boundaries.

In the context you describe I imagine the man means he wants a woman who fits his ideal, but he lacks the wit or articulacy to describe what traits that requires.
Typically it is likely to mean he wants a woman who facilitates his ability to do exactly as he pleases, and does so without complaint.

A lot of RAP music refers to women as a bitch or bitches.

How was I not more offended when I was younger listening to the likes of Dr Dre etc I will never know!

I think it happens when they have targeted a woman they thought was going to be a pushover . Their reaction when they find out she isn't is to call her a bitch . Never underestimate a quiet woman !

I don't know why some men refer to women as bitches. But we don't need to know why - it's enough to know that they are men to be avoided.

They are likely sexist dinosaurs. They likely feel threatened by women generally, and especially the ones who are more intelligent than them or are assertive. They think a 'nice' woman just agrees with everything they say and hero worships them just for having a penis.

'Bitches' tend to be women with strong opinions that differ to the man they are talking to.
'Bitches' are the women who don't alter the strong opinion they have and fall in line with the man they are talking to.
'Bitches' are women that don't sit in utter deference to the man they are talking to.
So basically 'bitches' are women who don't meekly agree with a man in my experience.
I am a bitch, and happy with it.

this ^

Same.

"You say bitch like it's a bad thing."

Some men hate women. There is that.

It doesn’t make a woman anything

It just makes the man who said it an idiot

very odd or maybe modern responses here. i've worked in health care with many women, some are really unpleasant pieces of work and i certainly have met more than my fair share of nasty bitches. they usually lie, are two faced, and steal time space non monetary stuff.
i don't associate it with misogyny any more than mental health issues but those that i do know have personality disorders.

JosephJoseph · 21/01/2023 20:48

@KettrickenSmiled No of course middle class and upper class men can be misogynistic it's just that bitch wouldn't be their first or most common choice for expressing it. They normally use different language. The question was about the word bitch specifically not misogyny generally.

Bitch and the C word is liberally thrown about and used by working classes. On the bus, on the school run.. it's not the middle class parents who are using it every other sentence. They might well use it when drunk or in certain contexts but it's not said as often.

My gay boss used to call us " his bitches" and woe betide anyone who disrespected his bitches 🤣

I bet you all laughed along, didn’t you. I really hate this kind of behaviour from some gay men in workplaces. They think they can get away with a whole load of stuff which would be seen as sexist and misogynist if done by a straight guy. Well, it’s STILL sexist and misogynist.
