DD is 8weeks old and frankly i'm stil in shock, i had no idea how hard it would be i'm shattered and finding it hrd to find time to wash my hair let alone have sex. dh is great but has asked when? i have no idea, i'm a bit scared tbh.

OP posts:
Pickie · 03/01/2008 22:43

Within 2 weeks with both DC and probably earlier if DH would have been up for it

nuttynoel · 03/01/2008 22:43

Over a year with DS.
About three months with dd, then nowt for about 6 months.
Both were after c-sections.
(Both times with partner who is called Eddie Murphy by friends - something to do with 48 Hours - is he an angel or what?)

12 weeks - didn't hurt like I was worried it might (had 9lb 6oz baby, 2nd degree tear and 3 stitches).

Mind you, have only done it once more since then...

Minum · 04/01/2008 07:15

A couple of weeks with both, it wasnt easy, but quickly came right. Took priority over washing my hair !

ADDICTEDtosayingHAAAAAAAPYxmas · 04/01/2008 07:43

2days

AnnainNZ · 04/01/2008 08:00

Had c section so no tearing/stitches in that area.

Wanted to from about 2 weeks after birth but lochia still going.

Now 9 weeks after birth and haven't yet. Lochia still going. Completely and utterly OVER IT!

Can't remember with DS1, but I didn't stop bleeding for over 12w (turned out I had an infection though), so it must have been a good 4 months. With DS2 I had a nasty tear, so again, we waited quite a while. 18m on I have a baby that wakes 4+ times per night for a bf, so sex isn't exactly frequent, or top priority for me. One day.....

When I was in hospital with DS1, there was a girl who left her twins in her room by themselves, to sneak home and have sex with her bf. She couldn't put them in the nursery, as she wasn't allowed to leave the hospital, so if she'd have left them there, they'd have known. She boasted about it at breakfast the next day. These were her 3rd & 4th children, and she was 21. The doctors wouldn't sterilise her until the babies were over one, but according to the MW's (who were always talking about her ), she'd be pg again before the year was up. She was also leaving the babies in the nursery every hour so she could go outside for a fag. Same MW's wouldn't even pick DS1 up when he was crying if I was in the loo, as he was bf so they couldn't do anything for him.

notmyrtle · 04/01/2008 10:41

10 days (c-section & I didn't have much bleeding by that point).

pyjamagirl · 04/01/2008 10:46

between 2 and 4 weeks with all of mine

IorekByrnison · 04/01/2008 11:04

I'm am amazed by all of you back-in-the-saddle-in-days people. Didn't even know it was possible. I was like a bad day at a butcher shop for weeks! I was scared even to go for a wee. Was at least 4 or 5 months, maybe more for me.

I guess a lot depends on the labour.

scorpio1 · 04/01/2008 11:09

about 3 days last time, didnt have any bleeding by that point. Was really horny for some reason! Was my idea too...dp could not believe his luck!

Was fine, not cheese gratery or anything. i loved loving him after having a baby, iyswim?

DS1 - about 8 weeks,

DS2 about 12 days

fortyplus · 04/01/2008 11:23

If dh asks 'When?' just tell him that over 50% of couples don't have sex for the first 12 months, but you'll try to manage it before then!

It will entirely depend on the state of your 'undercarriage'! I didn't have stiches so was up for it at 5 weeks both times (would've been earlier but still bleeding till then).

I have a friend who had very dodgy episiotomy who couldn't face it for nearly 18 months, apparently.

mumblechum · 04/01/2008 11:24

Two and a half weeks after CS.

I must have been bonkers.

Second time, about three or four weeks. also CS

I never learn.

MrsKittylette · 04/01/2008 11:25

Actully thinking about it, I think it was probably more like 12 weeks with DS1 rather than 8, I had alot of stitches and was in alot of pain.

But DS2 just popped out and everything was fine

mumblechum · 04/01/2008 11:28

Fortyplus, where did you get that statistic about more than half couples not having sex for a whole year? Sounds a bit dodgy, tbh.

think it's an excuse mumblechum.

8 months for us, we've only done it the once

fortyplus · 04/01/2008 11:39

mumblechum - sorry, can't remember... It was ages ago - round about the time I has ds1 (now 14) so maybe things have changed, though I suspect not. Apparently it's one of those things - the people not doing it tend to keep quiet - you only hear about the ones who do!

carmenelectra · 04/01/2008 11:42

after ds1 it was 3wks(once lochia stopped)and after ds2 14wks ago now it was 5 wks, again, after i had stopped bleeding.

Luckily felt fine each time.
