Does it tend to be the woman who pushes for marriage?

I’m at the age where my friends are starting to become engaged and married in heterosexual relationships. Mostly it seems it’s been my female friends who have brought up marriage and getting engaged, and their male partners tend to just go along with it, sometimes thanks to some gentle prodding. Does it tend to be like this?

I did give an ultimatum @KleinBlue I got tired of the "when will he propose" game.

My DH was more interested in marriage than me. Before we got together I didn’t see the point in marriage if the relationship is committed anyway, but he always saw it as a lovely way to become each other’s family. He kind of won me over to his romantic view of it. There was no pushing, and when he asked it was what I wanted too.

Not in my case...first marriage for me, 2nd for husband. There was no 'pushing' as such...we both knew very early on that we would marry. No proposal either, again, we both just knew it was the next step...agreed date and eloped, just the pair of us, then told folk when we got back from week holiday/honeymoon.
