Do ‘Poor’ men have affairs and who’d want to have one with them?

IME it seems to be ‘rich’ men who cheat on their wives. They have money and spare time for extra ‘fun’ and seem to become more arrogant and entitled the better off they are. By rich, I mean well above average salary, senior jobs, or own businesses which require them to work late, business travel etc.

Do less well off men have affairs? I’ve not known any. Would a woman be attracted to an affair with someone on minimum wage who drives an old car and who was living month to month?

It’s more from the angle of power and wealth being more of an aphrodisiac than poverty I suppose. More money for personal grooming, expensive clothes/jewellery/aftershave, nice car, etc. It’s a package.

I read comments like this and realise some people really do live on a different planet to me. I could not give a stuff about any of these things. None of them. People have affairs because - generally - they fancy the affair partner too much to resist. I have never fancied anyones jewellery, clothes, or car. Never.

No, Flouncer this has come about from a discussion DH and I had the other day. I suspected him of historic cheating a few years back after finding stuff in his emails from years ago but nothing definitive or worth splitting up for.

I can honestly say because we’ve never had money, lived in social housing and he had a beat up old car back then, I never thought he would cheat for some reason as he wouldn’t have had much to offer anybody. Although he was pretty hot back then and he’s got a big knob!

He reminded me about an incident about 15 years ago where I found a pair of knickers stuffed down the side of the sofa (not mine). We had 3 very young DC then and we’d had our DD’s birthday party at our house at which a few of the mums stayed for, so he’d passed it off as one of them having a pair of knickers in her handbag and them falling out and getting stuffed down the side of the sofa . I remember that I bought it at the time as I couldn’t figure out how he could have had a woman in the house. Im not sure why he brought it up as I’d forgotten it.

Yes. Because it’s not real life with responsibilities. It’s fun. Especially if he has time, energy, a buff body, a big dick, good looks and charm.

Yes poor men cheat, - usually with their sister in laws or their partners daughter - someone close by who they don't have to wine and dine.

Sorry to ruin your narrative but men and women cheat from all walks of life. Also, your definition of ‘poor’ may differ to someone else’s ie. the type of man you describe in your post with a minimum wage job and an older car maybe quite appealing to a woman struggling on benefits who can’t drive. He may also appeal to a ‘wealthy’ woman if he’s charming with a good sense of humour and good in the bedroom. People cheat for all different reasons, none of them excusable of course.

If this is how you saw your partner due to finances it sounds like a very unhealthy relationship. What a horrible way to speak about someone you love just because they arent wealthy.

Sorry, no. Went to school with a guy who's still in the same job at the same grade as he was in 1980. Doesn't care because chasing women is what motivates him. He's single but very few of his serial g/fs are.

Whilst nobody was cheating, I had a long fling with a scuba diving instructor once. He was poor as a church mouse, I work in investment banking and earn six figures.

He was hot as fuck, beautiful, tanned, toned body, hung like a donkey and the most generous lover I’ve ever had. He taught round the world, spoke 7 languages and had the most fascinating stories to tell about his travels. I happily paid for everything as he was such great company. I can imagine a number of women would cheat with him regardless of his income.

Of course poor men have affairs. But they've usually got other attributes. But rich men probably don't need other attributes. As much.

Both of my cheating ex’s were “poor”. One was so poor I was paying for his cell phone which he was using to chat with with other women.

It is not like that. All men could potentially cheat rich or poor. May be the one with the money is the woman.
