I want to shave my hair off. All of it

I'm 17stine

I want a new start

I want my whole life to change

I hate myself

I'm hiding behind hair

If I remove it I have nothing to hide behind and I have to start making changes from the inside

Does that make sense

The time to shave all of your hair off is when it is something specific you happily look forward to doing.
It’s an extreme hairstyle, not a cure for something else.

Sorry you “hate” yourself. If we actually knew you, I’m sure we could easily list what we like about you.

I don't feel pretty. I'm not pretty.

But I feel like this is the bare, real me. And if I don't like it I have to move forwards

Healthy eating. Taking my medication. Being kinder to myself

Op can I ask, are you getting help with the mental health issues? It sound like you might be in a really bad place at the moment and maybe need some support x

Gazelda · 05/01/2020 14:33

I think these are great ambitions. Have you taken your medication today?

And Grecian is right - you sound very vulnerable right now. Tell us what support you gave you can speak with today.

You can do those things anyway. Removing your hair really won't help imo.

DickDewy · 05/01/2020 14:56

Not the same, but have you seen that Ricki Lake has buzz cut her hair?

She has done it after 30+ years of feeling rubbish about her thinning/shedding hair. She looks fab.

mamato3lads · 05/01/2020 15:09

I think you'll take one look at your bald head in the mirror and want to hide til it all.grows back

Why would shaving your hair off help? It wouldn't help with anything at all....its not freedom... its just your hair

You seem desperate for something...turn it into motivation and do something amazing for yourself.

mamato3lads · 05/01/2020 15:10

And OP

Tell us some good things about you.. I'm sure there are loads .... come on....I'm here all day..... what are your good qualities? Xx

SatansTemple · 05/01/2020 15:36

Well it did make me feel dlgood. Its like emotional baggage. It's freeing

Very Britney Spears!

category12 · 05/01/2020 16:22

I'm glad you feel better for it.

SatansTemple · 05/01/2020 16:41

Thankyou for being kind. I needed some nice words today

You can do this. You deserve good things, you deserve to be happy.

RLEOM · 05/01/2020 16:50

I think you'll regret it. It's a very drastic move that might be spurred on by mental health. I've been there, considered doing it myself, but I knew deep down it was just my erratic thoughts, not what I'd truly want.

Maybe send a picture of yourself to a few of us and we could try and suggest a hair style that would suit you.

Self love really does come from within and from trying to live a wholesome life. Shaving your hair off will probably just make you feel worse when really you need to find your inner happy.

mamato3lads · 05/01/2020 16:53

You did it ?! Ah well, fair play on you....glad you feel happier for it...I hope positive things are on their way for you. Sending love x

RLEOM · 05/01/2020 16:55

Also, try and focus on your self esteem and confidence. Look at Ed Sheeran, he's not great to look at but his confidence and his voice turns him into a sex God!

Bluntness100 · 05/01/2020 16:59

Onwards and Upwards, remember it's just hair and it will grow back if you ever have any doubts and I'm sure you look great.

Can I ask gently about your mental health issues? When is the last time you took your medication, what support are you getting?

ElGuardiandenoche · 05/01/2020 17:01

I did the same when I was mid twenties. I had separated from my husband and he always liked my hair long ( so he had something to pull in several situations). I went to the hairdresser and got a buzz cut and as it grew out again I learned to become myself again.

AsleepAllDay · 05/01/2020 17:04

The weather is so cold! Maybe try a short hairdo along with other lifestyle changes

RLEOM · 05/01/2020 17:04

Sorry, just read that you did it! Well, if it's made you feel good, then that's all that matters. Smile I hope it's the change that makes you.

SatansTemple · 05/01/2020 17:20

I actually feel much lighter mentally.

I suppose in the same way some people feel down and go and get highlights or extensions.

This just worked for me. I just felt like I needed to do it.

DP was shocked but supportive.

I need to move forwards now and grow alongside my hair.

Also it Was FUCKED from home bleaching so bonus!

OP posts:
cakeandchampagne · 05/01/2020 17:43

@SatansTemple Oh! We definitely would have tried to talk you out of home bleaching your hair! Smile

VivaLeBeaver · 05/01/2020 17:46

I did it years ago. It’s only hair, it grows back. I don’t regret doing it....wouldnt do it again though.

SatansTemple · 05/01/2020 17:50

I've home bleached it half a dozen times in 2019. It was frazzled
