I'm 17stine

I want a new start

I want my whole life to change

I hate myself

I'm hiding behind hair

If I remove it I have nothing to hide behind and I have to start making changes from the inside

Does that make sense

I cut my hair off really short once like you it was in such bad condition and bleached out. It was a relief and I was able to start again .....it's now shoulder length and dyed black but in fantastic condition and I love it.....like you can't stand the hairdressers

Here's to new beginnings! Remember - cheesy as it sounds - beauty is only skin deep. You sound like a beautiful person who is struggling just now. Many of us have been there. It's wonderful that your partner is so supportive - are they supportive in other ways?

Losing weight is HARD. Looking after ourselves when fighting issues with our mental health is even harder... And we need all the support we can get.

Keep thinking of your end goal. Not about how long it will take you, or how hard it will be, just keep going and it will all be OK. Take care of yourself Flowers

I've done this in the past and LOVED it.
Good on you. Onwards and upwards now.

wishing you all the luck for the future!!!

Hey satan, I think it's not so common, but I know lots of religious people (monks and nuns of different denominations) who do what you've done, and I also know laymen who get their head shaved a few times a year rather than maintain a hair style. It can be very freeing to step away from vanity. Your posts reminded me of these folks. I respect them and your decision!

ExhaustedGrinch · 05/01/2020 20:41

Glad you like it OP. I have also done it (around 3 years ago) and it felt very freeing, which is what I wanted, it was almost like my own personal rebellion against societal expectations of what I should look like. It does go through some awkward stages growing it out but I loved it and am contemplating doing it again.

waterSpider · 05/01/2020 20:57

I agree it can (should?) be freeing.
But if really short, some people will offer sympathy as they may suspect you're doing chemo. [from a former friend who stopped really short haircuts for that reasons]
