Basically as the title says!

I think it's about time to dip my toe into the dating world but I have no idea where to begin.

Thanks

Tinder - I married him so yes!

chocolatelover9 · 16/08/2019 16:46

Plenty of fish.. Yes it worked out. 4 years later with a 2 year old 🙂

30to50FeralHogs · 16/08/2019 16:47

Plenty of Fish - met my DP of 7 years (and a few other nice men before that!) on there. Also signed up for Match and most of them were on there too, but I didn’t pay the membership for Match so couldn’t message anyone, was just curious if it was much better.

People say you get a better class of man on the paid sites, but they’ll all be on POF too, you just need to filter more! It’s all in how you use it, the pics you put up, the messages you send/answer, whether you meet sooner rather than chatting for ages etc.

There’s a long running dating thread on here somewhere. Some people do it for years. I only did it for a few months before meeting DP so I was either very lucky or not as picky as some!!

Good luck

Sexnotgender · 16/08/2019 16:47

POF, and yes!
Married with a 6 month old son. Best thing ever.

fabtasticmrpox · 16/08/2019 16:55

Match.com (years ago)

Yes married, 2 dc

CrazyDuchess · 16/08/2019 16:59

Following with interest Smile

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 16/08/2019 17:02

Thanks so far!

Did you feel comfortable in putting a photo up? I'm worrying that someone would recognise me in real life!!!! Hmm

MrsMc2019 · 16/08/2019 17:03

Eharmony and we're getting married next month xx

Duchessgummybuns · 16/08/2019 17:05

Tinder, 2 years later we’ve moved in together Smile

Didn’t mind putting my photo up, people could only contact me on there if I swiped right on them and if I recognised them I wouldn’t have done so.

Mothersruin123 · 16/08/2019 17:06

Match.com in 2012. Married with 1 DD.

Spacerader · 16/08/2019 17:07

Tinder, almost 4 years ago.

I had some awful dates before I met him tho.

I had a picture up, I didn’t care if people seen. At the end of the day they are on there for the same reason. OLD isn’t really taboo anymore it’s the norm

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/08/2019 17:09

Bumble. 2.5 years ago.

Also yes to a few horrific dates first though. Confused

LadyOfTheFlowers · 16/08/2019 17:10

Also I thought the same with pictures but you have to take the plunge. Anyone who sees it is either in the same boat and looking or on a dating site when they shouldn't be so unlikely to say anything....

userabcname · 16/08/2019 17:11

POF - been together 7 years, married coming up for 3, 2 DC. Yes to photos - people are understandably wary of photo-less accounts. Loads of ppl do OLD, there's no need to be embarrassed.

Ilovemyshoppingtrolley · 16/08/2019 17:13

I guess you're right with the photo's, took me long enough to get over the embarrassment of DH leaving me!

Some serious hang ups I have but I am lonely on my own and I need to do it otherwise I will stay single!

Badoo is ok too. However, once the pics start to pixelate, wait a week & youll be granted full access. I think this only works for females.

ohhellnaw · 16/08/2019 17:18

Okcupid- now got a toddler and engaged

wishywashy6 · 16/08/2019 17:19

Badoo, been with him just over a year and we've just moved in together so yes!

I will say I did encounter A LOT of undesirables along the way but it was all fun, even the crap dates gave a good story to tell!

sheshootssheimplores · 16/08/2019 17:23

Plenty of fish. People love to hate it but I found my ex and my fiancé on there and they were both lovely.

WhoIsTheFairestOfThemAll · 16/08/2019 17:24

Op, you can hide your profile so your in control of who you contact.

BillyAndTheSillies · 16/08/2019 17:25

Match.com, had to pay a membership to read his messages. Never looked back nearly 9 years later.

Married, one DC and another due in a few weeks.

BrunettesDoItBetter · 16/08/2019 17:27

Pof been together 6.5 years, married with ds 5

Alicatz66 · 16/08/2019 17:29

I found Match the best ... I'm marrying my partner next year !! He only cost me £29.99 ! I tried Tinder, POF and Guardian soulmates too ... had loads of dates !! You have to kiss a few frogs 🐸.. but on the whole I really enjoyed dating .. no one was horrible or weird .. just not for me !
Good luck OP !
