Would you think this man was weird or wonderful?

My lovely friend is 27 and a sweet, funny man. He is also single. We both really like guinea pigs (!) and he is planning to get two gorgeous piggy babies. He is worried that any potential girlfriend would see him as a bit of a weirdo keeping guinea pigs, whereas I think it would only endear him more to a woman? Grin He asked if I could find out what people might think, so here I am! Thank you in advance!

I don't think it's weird at all. I think each to their own and there's someone out there for everyone.

Pet lovers make good dps imo. My ddog is a good judge of character and liked dh. If he wasn't a ddog lover she would have known.

And probably eaten him!

It's fine. For me it's neither a plus nor a minus. Could go both ways. I've met some absolutely horrible people who love animals because they dont really get people and some very nice people who are also animal lovers.

Mmm, I would think it an odd choice of pet for a grown man, but he shouldn’t let that stop him.

He should get rescue guinea pigs. I (were I not very happy with my DP of course) would have a definite bias towards a man who adopted abandoned pigs. Not so much for a man who funded the pet trade.

My ex boyfriend, same age, loved guinea pigs. I found it an odd choice for a grown-up but actually he wasn't much of an adult so it sort of made sense Wink

As long as he didn't talk about them all the time and have his screensaver picture of them, I can't really see it would make a difference if he did or didn't.

He should get the piggies! If he likes little animals that much why would he want to date someone who thought it was weird? I'm happily married but if I was looking I would definitely want to date someone who had nice pets.

My boyfriend talked me into getting guinea pigs as he loves them. I always thought they were an odd choice but honestly I love them, fab little creatures and seeing him care for them and talk to them honestly melts my heart.
Anyone that judges people for having a pet isn’t right imo

There are some wonderful Guinea pig rescues out there, please get him to go to a genuine rescue rather than pets at home. It would be an absolute plus for me if a man had guinea pigs or pets in general.

I LOVE guinea pigs! I totally adore the little things & miss having them. Im two decades too old for your friend so my opinion might nit be relevant...

If there was a story behind it (like they were his nieces but she was neglecting them so he rescued them) then it would make me like him even more, but if he’d bought them at a pet shop I’d prefer probably find that a bit ‘wet’ (Sorry mate).

...but if he let me cuddle them & watch them popcorning I’d probably happily fall into his bed (as long as he had adult bedding, not spongebob or something.
