When it’s just the two of you, do you call each other by their names?

No he has a nickname which I cant write because it's too odd and so would be outing. He hates it but it's just stuck for me. It comes from an animal that rhymes with his name.
He calls me by my name usually but sometimes calls me 'doll' only for humorous purposes not romance!

butterflykiss00 · 14/04/2019 20:59

I call my DH Mary or babes.

Sunshineandflipflops · 14/04/2019 21:01

Asshat, knobhead, twatface...there are more. We’re divorcing in the next year 😄

Elizabeth2019 · 14/04/2019 21:03

I call him his full name, or either an animal (very weirdly specific) or love

Shoxfordian · 14/04/2019 21:53

We call each other the same pet name or darling, honey bear, love.

LuckyLou7 · 14/04/2019 21:55

I call him by his name if I like him that day and Dickhead if I don't. Today I like him.

RoseOfSharyn · 14/04/2019 21:58

In general conversation I call him an abbreviation of his name (as does his mum and sister) or i call him babe, sexy, or sweetie, depending on the context.

Why do you ask?

BlessedFox · 14/04/2019 22:06

I call him darling/honey/sweetie etc. He usually calls me the same.

And I find I get irrationally upset if he calls me by my actually name. Grin

CheekyFuckerHQ · 14/04/2019 22:10

I know he’s pissed off if he calls me by my name! I answer to anything really, he has a handful of names he calls me and I, him.

Robin2323 · 14/04/2019 22:15

We usually call each other sweet heart.
But I do tend to call the kids the same.
Rarely call each other by name.
Once called him sweetheart in front of his mum - she laughed 😳

nespressowoo · 14/04/2019 22:37

Generally it's 'love'. Tonight it's 'knobhead'

PickAChew · 14/04/2019 23:57

Yes, I just call him by his name, unless I'm talking to the boys, then he's "your dad."

Heaviestdirtyestsoul · 14/04/2019 23:59

Butt munch. I'm pudding pop- I hate it 😂

HandbagCrazy · 15/04/2019 00:02

We use a shortened versions of each other's names generally. Otherwise he gets a mix of 'my love / Mr / husband / dickhead' Grin

In return I get 'Wife / cutie / Mrs / very-outing nickname'

I actually really like him using my full name as no one ever does he uses it in bed sometimes Blush

NicksWife08 · 15/04/2019 00:16

Dickhead usually, as an actual term of endearment, although not in front of the DC's. And he has always called me by my surname. We only call each other by our Christian names when we're angry or talking to other people about the other.

RainbowMum11 · 15/04/2019 00:35

I knew our marriage was over properly when he called me by my name instead of the other names we had for each other for the whole time we'd been together.

RavenLG · 15/04/2019 00:48

Babe for both of us. Or if I’m shouting from upstairs his (shortened) name as he never hears me otherwise. He called my actual name the other Day and it sounded weird

maras2 · 15/04/2019 02:30

His name is only 4 letters so I tend to tack i.e.onto the end.
My name is 4 letters too and I'm never called anything but.
After 50 years, I still love the way he says my name Smile

maddieharrison · 15/04/2019 02:32

I call him sweetie and get called the same in return. Sometimes I call him jaan which in hindi means my life. (Excuse the soppiness)

Putthatlampshadeonyourhead · 15/04/2019 04:51

He has a range of nicknames. Generally depends, he calls me babes in a thick cockney accent alot.

His most common nickname for me is an abbreviation of my first name. Freaks memoir when he calls me, my full name. Doesnt sound quite right.

We have some quite sweaty nicknames for eachother too. But all said in humour.

His name doesnt really abbreviate. But he generally goes by, a nickname that comes from his surname. I call him that quite alot

butterflykiss00 · 15/04/2019 10:10

@BlessedFox haha it means your in trouble 😂😂

BlessedFox · 15/04/2019 10:31

@Butterflykisses

😂

You’d think so wouldn’t you! But he tells me it’s just because he liked saying my name sometimes. Weirdo!

OP posts:
multivac · 15/04/2019 10:33

He calls me by my surname. It's much more affectionate than it sounds. I use his first name. No endearments from either of us.

butterflykiss00 · 15/04/2019 11:48

@BlessedFox haha it never sounds pleasant though it's always sounds quite bitter when he says 'butterflykiss' 😂

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 15/04/2019 11:52

We call each other Love usually,we only call each other by our first names if we pissed off lol
