I am the stupidest woman ever I had a one night stand unprotected two months ago. He didnt ejaculate in me...

After I came to my sense the next day I asked him had he been tested and he said he was all clear from
STDs

I am panicking I have HIV I had a cold about 5 weeks after the event- I’m a teacher so I assumed time of year it wasn’t bad enough to take any time off work but felt sluggish and fell
Asleep very early one night.

The country I live has 1000 people living with HIV 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m
So angry st myself

You are an inspiration!!

By the way, I had to have a full screening a little while ago and I was genuinely at peace with the possibility of a positive result! Knowledge is power.

Why I think it's really unlikely is that he had unprotected sex with you himself and if he did have HIV and knew that he did - that would be a crime to withhold that information from you. It would be deliberately putting you at risk of contracting it.

No, no and no again to this. Most importantly if someone knows they have HIV and are on medication with an undetectable viral load, they CANNOT trans it HIV to anyone else through sex - anal, vaginal, unprotected, whatever. This is endorsed by the World Health Organisation, British HIV Association, NHS and all other relevant bodies. So in this scenario, no risk whatsoever. U=U (undetectable = untransmittable).

As for it being a crime - it depends where you live. Eg in England if you are UD & no risk to any partners you do not have to disclose by law. Yes I know there are some shit bags like Daryl Rowe who purposely infected several men - and boasted about it - and is now in prison for a long time.

I can provide proof/sources to any of the above if needed.

holidayhope · 19/12/2018 15:52

Thanks for correcting me. I was meaning like Daryl Rowe and deliberately infecting but didn't realise how I had worded it reads

Hi all

Just out from GP she was lovely she said the chances of me having anything blood borne is low as rates in this country for HIV and Hep are not high at all. She is confident I will be fine but has referred me for counselling for my anxiety

No probs holidayhope, I just didn’t want anyone reading it to get the wrong idea - plus I like to grab a y opportunity to push the U=U thing Grin.

OP a little reassurance goes a long way and I’m glad you’re getting support from your GP.

As said, it’s always good to take responsibility for our health, whether sexual, physical or mental, and STI testing tomorrow will I’m sure help to reassure you further Smile

You’ll be fine OP. I have found nurses etc at clinics to be amazing and so reassuring.

Scared88 · 20/12/2018 11:48

The nurse said I was low risk...got a full screen she said she is going to ring me either way next Thursday to give me peace of mind...

She thinks I’m most at risk of chlamydia

OP posts:
HIVpos · 20/12/2018 12:01

Yes I think chlamydia would be the STI most commonly caught - and easily treated anyway.

That’s great that the nurse will phone you either way as quite often they work on “no news is good news”.

At least that’s done Smile

Soscared88 · 27/12/2018 11:13

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 27/12/2018 11:21
