How long into your relationship did you say ‘I love you’

Have been seeing someone for about two/three months exclusively and it’s going really well, we really like each other. I’m starting to feel like I’m falling in love with him. How soon is too soon to say it?! Should I wait for him to say it first? And out of curiosity, how soon have you felt it and said it, and did you wait long between the two?

I would always wait for the man to say it. Traditional, I know, and I'll likely get flamed for it by others on here, but that's just me.

MissWilmottsGhost · 11/04/2018 18:10

Fuck me it was years Shock

I still don't say it unless I have to.

Neither does DH.

We're not that sort of couple.

We do hold hands and kiss in public though Smile

I said it first - after about 2 months 😎

Found myself thinking it whenever I looked at him or said goodbye. I just couldn't keep it in.

I'm from a family who say it all of the time though...It's great! 💖

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/04/2018 18:34

Long distance thing so it was six months but we'd only spent about four weeks together. He said it first.

Pinkvoid · 11/04/2018 18:35

My DP said it to me after a week Blush. He said he was embarrassed at the time about thinking it so soon but here we still are over two years down the line with a baby on the way so it didn’t do too much harm Grin.

Dimael · 11/04/2018 18:38

I always end up saying it way too early! I’m such a romantic if I fall in love I lose control. Earliest I said it was 2 months! 🙈

MillieMoon94 · 11/04/2018 18:40

I found out I was pregnant 8 weeks into the relationship, and my boyfriend said it to me for the first time just after I had given birth to our son. We did things kind of the wrong way round but we are now engaged with 2 kids so I don’t think it did us any harm.

Twounder1 · 11/04/2018 18:41

I said it on the second date 😳
We were talking for around 5 days online before we met and we decided to meet up, hit it off.
Then he wanted to see me the next day..
So the next day happened and I'd missed my train and he had to wait 3 hours for his due to delays and mine were every 10 mins. He came back down to my platform to wait with me and I got really hormonal and emotional 😂
Two children, a home and planning a wedding later here we are.

HipHipHippo · 11/04/2018 18:42

DH told me before we started dating. We've known each other since we were kids. Dated as teens (first love etc.)
We'd been talking and becoming really good friends again for a few months before this. Once he had said it I was hesitant and we didn't get together for a little while after this. Mostly because I was engaged to someone else...
Saying that I love him, he's my best friend.

Monke · 11/04/2018 18:49

Oh these are all really sweet! I don’t feel quite as embarrassed about thinking it after two months now! Still not going to say it yet though Grin

6 weeks. I said it first but dh has already drunkenly proposed to me so I wasn't too worried... he said it back!

LizzieSiddal · 11/04/2018 18:54

6 weeks😂

We got married 7 months after meeting. Still together 29 years later and love him to bits.

Talith · 11/04/2018 18:55

I think it was about 4 months into dating, seven months from first meeting.

AdidasGirl · 11/04/2018 18:56

3 days was all it took for my man to say it to me.(Met on the Tuesday and he said it on the Friday)
We both felt it the night we met randomly.
10 year anniversary is in a couple of weeks.

RafikiIsTheBest · 11/04/2018 18:56

My DP said it accidentally a few times, along the line of me saying I liked something he did that was uncommon and it would slip out. The first time was a week or so into dating. I said it for the first time after about 3 months, and he said it back to me straight away. I was really nervous about saying it.
We had known each other before dating for about a year though, but I don't think that makes much difference as I didn't have strong feelings for him before, just liked him as a friend.

SparkyTheCat · 11/04/2018 19:38

A month in. 15 years on and we still say it to each other every day Smile

MissBax · 11/04/2018 19:43

After about a month, that was 5 years and a baby ago :)

happymummy12345 · 11/04/2018 19:50

9 days after we were official

PrettyLittIeThing · 11/04/2018 19:57

I said it after two weeks (although he's an ex now) it's funny as I thought that was early as was abit Confused after hearing it was classed as a "red flag" so glad to hear others have said it early on.

niceupthedance · 11/04/2018 20:02

Three months. His response was "what's that buzzing noise?"
(Someone ringing a buzzer on coronation street)
(He had said it a month before me though)

PintOfCalpol · 11/04/2018 20:02

DH said it after two months. I managed to say it after 10 months. I found it really hard to say, I’m not sure why, I have only ever said it to him and I wanted to be 100% sure. That was 16 years ago.

hugoagogo · 11/04/2018 20:05

A few weeks. That was 1995.

Onemansoapopera · 11/04/2018 20:08

DH said it about two months in after our first argument and says it every day 3.5 years later.

DuchessofManchester · 11/04/2018 20:11

It was about a month for us. Still very happy together

Pusheenicorn · 11/04/2018 20:11

About 3 weeks Blush through a text... I was drunk on a weekend away for a gig.

I did mean it though and he said it back Grin
