When I was about 7 or 8 I got one from my mum.

Yes. One time before I was married to my now ex husband, we were going through a tough time. He sent me two Valentine's cards to see whether I would admit to having them both. Given his handwriting was distinctive (the dumb fuck) I did admit to both! But then another card arrived - I never found out who sent that, but it was quite cheering as it wiped the smile off my ex's face.

Yes years ago when I was going out with my long term boyfriend I got another card in the post. I never found out who it was from

Dahlietta · 08/02/2018 19:36

Yes, from my sister's creepy boyfriend Envy (not envy)

Anymajordude · 08/02/2018 20:08

One from an old bloke down the pub when I was about 20 and he about 60. One huge bunch of roses from a guy who ran the offices in the same building I worked in. My boyfriend at the time laughed, I think he'd bought me catering sized tomato ketchup for valentine's Day.

I got one sent to my home and it had the same spelling error on the envelope as the spelling error on our personnel file at work. No men had access to the database so I always suspected one female colleague (note I don't say friend) who was trying to cause trouble at home. It didn't work.

Yes aged 17. Thanked my boyfriend profusely for the flowers and card then realised they weren’t from him.

NewYearNiki · 08/02/2018 21:56

No. I want to send one this year though.

NotTheFordType · 08/02/2018 22:10

Oh this doesn't sound like DM fodder at all.

IN my circle, people who are secure in their relationships do not celebrate VD because they show their partners love every day.

SunshineHQ · 08/02/2018 22:14

Does a card from a 6 year old I babysat for count??

It was probably the loveliest valentines I ever received.

constantlychangingmyname · 08/02/2018 22:17

I’ve had lots over the years Grin

yetmorecrap · 09/02/2018 00:56

Yep when had been married 7 years, came handposted through door, no idea who sent it , it was not DH

SleepingStandingUp · 09/02/2018 01:02

My best friend and I sent each ones when we were single as an aww someone loves you even if its only me kinda thing

BitOfFun · 09/02/2018 01:10

I used to get a fair few at school, and the odd one at work, but I'd be a bit alarmed these days if any would-be suitors knew my address Grin.

They're for ardent teenagers or your actual partner really, I think. Getting anonymous love notes as an adult is borderline creepy.

Time40 · 09/02/2018 01:20

A few, over the years. Some of them are still total mysteries.

I haven't had one for ages, though - that's probably something to do with getting old.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 09/02/2018 01:27

Yes, by a boy in the year below me at school. I was amused to be flicking through the TV channels one night to see him reading the news on the BBC - if I had reciprocated his (very obvious) feelings I could have had a very different DH!

Winosaurus · 09/02/2018 07:18

I had was in a LTR when I was 22 and a guy who had a crush on me from work sent me a huge bunch of roses with a card saying how much he loved me... I had never said more than a few words to this man and apparently his motives for the over the top gesture was he wanted to try and convince my bf that we were having an affair so he’d break up with me and leave me single? Hmm
As you can imagine I was extremely disturbed by this... and still not sure how he found out my address?!

Luckily since then I’ve only had valentines cards from partners and now my kids make me them Grin

Dancetothebeat32 · 09/02/2018 07:43

Only once never found out who it was, on a separate occasion I once got a pair of earrings wrapped in newspaper through the letterbox 🤨🤨......I think it was the delivery man who used to deliver my kebab when I was stupendously drunk

Littlelondoner · 09/02/2018 08:11

Yes several times. But the weridest one.

This is so outing though.

It was from a guy who barely spoke english. It was a congratulations its a girl card. Like one you'd buy new parents. But he had wrote after the "congrats it is a girl" (that I like...)

Werid and sad as well. On so so so many levels.

PaperRockMissile · 09/02/2018 10:34

I was going out with my long term boyfriend I got another card in the post. I never found out who it was from

This happened to me when I was very young and much later (over a year when we were still together) he admitted it was from him because "he wanted to test whether I would tell him about it" and "who I thought it was from" (as some sort of are you nearly cheating exam I didn't know I was taking).

Despite being completely disgusted at the time, I thought it was a good idea and did it myself to a later boyfriend. My excuse is that I was young and a raging shame-faced hypocrite. Only once in my life though. Blush

Iooselipssinkships · 09/02/2018 11:17

My step Dad once got me a card and 'A whole new world' on tape. Please note it was not the Katie and Peter Andre version, Aladdin had recently come out and it was my favourite.

Not quite the same but I was seeing a guy when I was younger and he'd made a massive effort... teddy, flowers, the works. I'd not bothered with getting anything for him, we'd not been together long and chances are I was skint.

So the next day he dumped me by leaving a
very long message on the landline answer machine then asked for the stuff back! I was still living at home so everyone had a good laugh at that and get reminded every year.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 09/02/2018 14:24

No Sad I'm told I was a late bloomer though & now I tend to have an air of fuck off about me so maybe that's why...
Haven't had one off DH come to think of it-had thinks it's money making 0bollocks, which it is tbf.

stevie69 · 09/02/2018 14:42

Yes, I get one every year and I haven't got a partner ........

anxiousnow · 09/02/2018 15:30

Yes but not the last couple of years so please send to 123 needaboost lane cheers

Liz38 · 09/02/2018 21:40

Got one from DD this year! Early. It made me very happy.

Peanutbuttercheese · 10/02/2018 03:06

I have had three and also a jokey one that was from some of my students but never found out which ones, it was homemade with a poem written in it.

One was thirty years ago I still have no idea who sent it.

The two other anonymous ones . One was my mates lab partner and I guessed it was him, the other I had no clue.

Well reader I married the mega mystery valentine but he didn't come clean till we started dating about seven months later, he was a work colleague at the time. He had printed out the words so no handwriting for clues but kept a copy on his laptop and did a bit of a ta da reveal when we had been dating a few weeks.
