He collects action figures

He always has, at first i thought it was cute, but its just out of hand.

Theyre everywhere, in my kitchen, in the bedroom,

he has his own office room and its full of them, in glass cabinets ect...

He said he would stop buying them but he hasnt

I'm trying to save for the wedding nd every day the postie brings another jiffy with a small plastic man in it

i hate them and they're making me dislike him!

How can i take him seriously when he plays with dolls?

Im pissed because the postie has just delivered another 2 'varients' of a figure he already has a dozen of!!!

I want to just bin them all, but i cant , theyre HIS property IYKWIM, as much as i hate them i cant do that to him.

You have known this all along?

Since having children with him?

And since planning your wedding?

Kbear · 12/04/2007 10:33

hmm, I would ask him to stop spending while you're saving up to get married. He's not really being fair. Perhaps a rethink about the man you're marrying might be in order!!

kittylette · 12/04/2007 10:35

but its just gone too far

i love him to death its not something im going to cancel the wedding over, but its stressing the hell out of me

Morning Kittie, what a coincidence. Have just finished writing an email to you!
Your post made me laugh but you are not alone! My dh collects roleplaying miniatures so we have lots and lots of little orcs, dragons, soldiers and monsters around. But he usually keeps it to one room. And I enjoy roleplaying too so it doesn't bother me nearly as much as it does you.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 12/04/2007 10:36

sooo, what kind of figures?

custy · 12/04/2007 10:37

some people can do things and its a hobby.

some people do the same thigns and its an addiction.

if he is plainly ignoring yur financial circumstances, you and your children in favour of the figures, i would sugest he has a n addiction.

and quite frankly wouldnt marry him

kittylette · 12/04/2007 10:38

mostly marvel ones

spiderman, x-men, ect

but he has scarface, predator, terminator, metal gear solid,

anything and everything

some of them are really cool, but its the amount of them i have a problem with

and the fact they keep arriving

Could you sit down with him and work out a compromise in view of the upcoming wedding? Say, 2 figures a month max.

i think its only me to be fair who is saying that i wouldnt marry him if i considered it to be an addiction. i can say this from experience.

michaelad · 12/04/2007 10:44

Go on custy, what was your experience then!

kittylette · 12/04/2007 10:44

yeah, i do like them, i used to collect some myself (predator and ICP figures) but since having kids my interest has fizzled out whereas his hasnt

if im going to be honest its not the worst thing in the world

he doesnt drink, smoke or go out at all (geek )so its not like hes at the pub everynight which would be a worse situation

but in our little world it is a problem

Does he have a shed for them?

Every man needs a hobby. Be thankful it's not football or golf or something else which takes him away every Saturday. Or something noisy and dirty like motorbikes. Or porn.

Pollyanna · 12/04/2007 10:57

could you sell them to fund the wedding?

well to his credit he has made alot of money on occasion - buying a rare Mario Kart figure for £2.99 in quality save then selling it for £120!!

hes done stuff like that alot,

he has his own room for them that hes done up recently so if i get him to take the entire cast of Xmen out of my kitchen and put them in his room i may chill out a bit

my dh is thre same - collects star wars figures, comics etc etc.
Tbh if i'd known the extent of his collecting I would have thought twice about getting involved with him
