How do you initiate sex?

incognitoday · 11/04/2007 12:04

I was raised a Catholic but have not practised for many years. I believe my upbringing had a profound effect on my sexuality as I am unable to initiate sex with my DH even though I'm not hung up about my body, am reasonably attractive, have never had an abusive sexual experience and quite enjoy sex once we get into it. But our sex life is dwindling because he thinks I'm not interested and don't find him attractive. He's fed up of initiating all the time. I also find it hard to be open, flirtatious, fun etc I'm 42 and still believe that nice girls don't! Can anyone help with this??

[email protected] use the period thingy too....'tonight is your last chance...take me now or lose me for 5 days'..lol....sometimes it works.....other times he says 'go to the doctor-your cycle is getting shorter and shorter'.......i do hound him a lot for it...i think i must have been a nun in a previous life..i just can't get enough of it now!!!!!

He knows thats how to get round me too....if he wants to go and play golf or whatever....he knows what to do ;)

incognitoday · 11/04/2007 15:01

TeeCee - 'it's what makes you a couple' - I like that. Twinmummy - I'm gobsmacked at the thought of your DH getting round you by having sex with you, that's so nice - my DH would NEVER think that would work on me, poor thing.
I'm enjoying this thread.

I don't agree to the sex after the golf anymore though.....too many times i have fallen asleep and missed out..it's always before...always...

god i am hungry!!!!xx

"Is getting a cob on not vital for this sorta business? Or do i not understand what a cob is."

the latter

Boco · 11/04/2007 15:43

I'm kind of picturing something corn on the cob shaped...

Rantum · 11/04/2007 15:48

Go to bed just before your dh tonight, light a candle or two, put on some sexy lingerie, lie back on the bed and ask him to come to the bedroom. With any luck no more seduction required and he gets the message that you do want him!

lou33 · 11/04/2007 15:52

i usually just grabbed bf and told him, or he used to say stuff like "why aren't you doing x,y,z, to me?" in a joking manner

IntergalacticWalrus · 11/04/2007 15:57

pmsl at "you need to get a cob on"

"I say, Claude, please stop poking me with your Cob On"

rofl rofl rofl

(sorry Boco. That's amooozed me"

Boco · 11/04/2007 16:05

or clap hands with glee

'look at you, clever thing, with your big cob on!'

Londonmamma · 11/04/2007 17:38

Mellowma - my DH and I always laugh at the story of one of his college friends who liked to have sex whilst keeping an eye on snooker on the TV!!

LaDiDaDi · 11/04/2007 18:57

Dp and I are quite blatant with each other:

During the day, big snoggy kisses and groping to let each other know that we are up for it later.

Rude texts if we are not together.

"I really want you to f!"k me" usually works very well.

If we are in bed together already then usually we just kiss and stroke each other rather than either one of us particularly taking the lead.

OrmIrian · 11/04/2007 19:00

"Fancy a f*ck?" usually does it.

DimpledThighs · 11/04/2007 19:20

be nice to each other

IamBlossom · 11/04/2007 20:16

ok now I am really PMSL. Will now never be able to use the phrase "getting a cob on" (getting the arse/arriving at a pissed off state/becoming irritated with said person) without picturing a sexually aroused person dressed as a corn on the cob!

IamBlossom · 11/04/2007 20:19

re the period thing - with the one person I ever talked about that with I professed an amazement that they "do" it while she had the painters in, and she was amazed that I thought it so repulsive! I too am Catholic, is that just me that thinks having sex whilst on is truly gross for all concerned???? Dh won't go near me during time of the month, (although I have yet to have it 8 months after having DS2, a whole other thread).....

Chipstick · 11/04/2007 21:53

"Turn the tele off, we're off to bed - I want sex!"

That tends to work, or I go to bed before hubby, get in totally naked and pull duvet up round my neck - then when he gets in I snuggle up and he realises his luck is in!

DimpledThighs · 11/04/2007 22:08

you lot are so practical in the sex department!

Twinmummyx2 · 12/04/2007 07:55

a blossom- we do 'it' on occasions during a period if he didn't get in there the day before it all starts.....but my 4th day is very light so we usually aim for then . It can be very messy otherwise ...i am actually more horny for those 5 days a month...i think its cause my body is saying 'no, give it a rest'....don't like the word no!...lol

hurtybum · 12/04/2007 08:17

blatent flirting!

Incognitoday · 12/04/2007 10:44

I did it! He was delighted. And I'm going to do it again!

You've saved me a fortune on sex therapy.
Have a nice day.

Incognitoday · 12/04/2007 11:04

mumto3girls · 12/04/2007 11:18

I'm genuinely really pleased that you were able to take that step...although not as pleased as your hubby I'm betting. Well done you!!
