Backhand

I just got a back-hand across the face that made my nose bleed.

I haven't NC'd, I'm too shocked.

We've been together 14 years, nothing like this has ever happened before.

I don't know what to do, I think he may be having a breakdown, he seems to not be the man I 'know.

I'm utterly distraught.

He's been admitted. Thanks for the support. I'm obviously buggering off now.

Thank you.

It's scary and hell for a week to a fortnight if it's a psychosis and your first experience of such, but they will stabilise him with medication and the him you know will return. First time I experienced it with ex DH I thought he'd gone insane forever (naive and little knowledge of psychosis then) but the mind does return. It's not forever. He's in the best place if he's been admitted. He may be angry for a while... he will be grateful and understand when he is better

Thank goodness he's getting some help and you're safe. Look after yourself.

Well done for dealing with things so quickly and pragmatically. Hope this episode won't last long and that your DP will soon be more rational.

Please do not lose yourself amidst your (understandable) concern for him though. You have been assaulted and you need and deserve support too.

How's things this morning op?

My friend had a similar thing recently, he'd been smoking weed though, was completely convinced my brother had kidnapped him, and was planning on killing him, full psychotic episode.

He was fine after a few days.

I hope you all get the help you need, must've been terrifying for you Flowers

Hope you are ok OP, what an awful experience but well done on dealing with it so fast in the circumstances, i cant imagine the shock you must have been/still be in.

Hopefully he can now get the help he needs.

Hope you're ok

DixieFlatline · 31/07/2017 22:25

Wow.

Please don't neglect yourself while this is going on, OP. Yes, he might be facing some frightening MH struggles, but you are having to deal with what is going on and what happened to you as well. Don't be afraid to seek support, I can only imagine you must need it. You're absolutely entitled to any feelings you might have around the behaviour and the assault you were exposed to. There potentially being a medical explanation for it doesn't really lessen the impact it must have had on you.

RoseOfSharyn · 31/07/2017 22:34

OP if you read nothing else please read Dixies post.
