Did your husband tell you he loved you on your wedding day?

Mine didn't. Anyone else experience the same? Did it/does it bother you?

We say we love each other every day, so whilst I can't specifically remember it, he will have definitely said I love you several times and possibly even during the speeches. It would have bothered me if he didn't because it wouldn't be typical of him. If he was the kind of man that didn't ever say it then I would have known that in advance and it probably would have meant he wasn't the one for me. OP - was it just on your wedding day that he didn't say it or is this his usual way?

Chasing - good luck for tomorrow.

ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 31/05/2016 22:16

Chasing - hope you both have a wonderful day!

Gosh, yes! It was a very long time ago but yes, absolutely!

ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 31/05/2016 22:25

Evil eyes - we used to say it all the time but now, pretty much never, things are stale and have been for a while so I think I'm trying to figure out if there were signs I missed before or if this is 'normal' for a long relationship, together 22 years married for 6 of those.

FunnysInLaJardin · 31/05/2016 22:29

I'm certain he did. We tell each other loads of times every day and so I can't think our wedding would have been any different. We have been together over 28 years and married for 18

happystory · 31/05/2016 22:32

Yes he did. If he can't say it that day when the bloody hell will he? He tells me most days, married 30 years.

GinIsIn · 31/05/2016 22:38

He did, followed swiftly by 'have you fallen over your dress yet'... Hmm

ALaughAMinute · 31/05/2016 22:40

No, he hardly ever said it. We're now divorced.

VioletsAreViolet · 31/05/2016 23:01

Yes, many times. He'd written his own promises and had it included in within them too. We've had a wonderful 5 years together and barely a day has gone by when he hasn't said he does and definitely not a day when he hasn't acted like he does. I consider myself incredibly fortunate.

TheNaze73 · 01/06/2016 13:03

I think the actions, speak far more than the words anyway. The real issues Op, are what you're facing at the moment, if you're not feeling it rather than 3 disposable words

RiceCrispieTreats · 01/06/2016 13:06

It's not what happened on your wedding day that's important, it's the fact that things are not so great now.

Do you want to talk about what's going on?

deVelvet · 01/06/2016 13:11

Looking back at the dvd, you can clearly read my lips asking exH to tell me he loved me. It's pretty cringey.

He was an awkward bugger at best of times, don't know why we got married as within a year I had left him

chelle792 · 01/06/2016 13:14

I can't remember if DH told me he loved me - and we only got married in Nov! I imagine he did because he tells me almost every day although I very rarely tell him

If he didn't it wouldn't surprise me because he was very close to being hospitalised at the time and everyone was just amazed that he made it!

Hope you're ok op. Remember, it's actions rather than words that matter

DailyMailAreAFuckingJoke · 01/06/2016 20:21

Yes - it was the first thing he said to me after we were declared husband and wife. He's not terribly romantic or demonstrative, but he says 'I love you' to me every day.

DailyMailAreAFuckingJoke · 01/06/2016 20:22

Sorry pressed post too soon. Together 15 years and married for 12.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 01/06/2016 20:24

Can't remember. He says it every day but I can't specifically remember him saying it on our wedding day. I imagine we were too busy!

maggiethemagpie · 01/06/2016 20:26

I don't remember him saying it on our wedding day, but he says it most days and I know he does so it didn't matter.

What mattered more was that he didn't smile when he first saw me at the altar, but I think that was probably just nerves.

alltouchedout · 01/06/2016 20:31

Yes. We say it lots, every day.

DeathByMascara · 01/06/2016 20:37

I have a feeling we said it to each other during the first dance, but if I had to place money on it, I couldn't be sure.

But I think this is more to do with how you're feeling now than how things were on your wedding day, OP? Do you want to share what's been happening?

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 20:41

Yes, but we say it every day anyway.

He's always been ok about saying he loves me, but isn't really into talking about 'feelings', so I was shocked when he stood up to do his speech and told a room full of our guests all of the reasons why he loves me. Then said that I'm his world. I'm still in shock about it I think, I was expecting a bit of a stand-up routine!

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 20:41

Chasing, wishing you a lovely day Flowers

RaeSkywalker · 01/06/2016 20:42

Hope you're ok OP.

Watto1 · 01/06/2016 20:43

I can't remember. I do remember him saying I looked lovely when I joined him at the altar though. He's not the most demonstrative of people (typical Yorkshireman!), so that meant a lot. I know he loves me from his actions but he rarely says it. Usually only in bed or after an argument!

maggiethemagpie · 01/06/2016 20:48

Actually he did say it on our wedding day - in the speech. He doesn't like public speaking, or talking about emotions so that's a pretty big deal!

ifeeltheneedtheneedforspeed · 01/06/2016 21:16

Thank you all for your replies and sharing your stories. For those asking if I'm ok and if I would like to talk about what's going on.....I started a thread earlier in the year under another name...it's quite lengthy...i will try copy the link here.
