Had this discussion with a friend last night and think I'm
A habit ending a text with an 'x' person- what about you

I only put them to somebody I would kiss/hug in real life. That's what it means to me. I don't find it cold to see a text without them! How strange.

I irrationally hate it when I see it on facebook done between strangers, it's so weird. I can't help but imagine the person going up and kissing the other person's cheek between sentences. Or hugging them and then carrying on the conversation, or just generally going up to them and putting their hands all around their face I may have issues

So in practice I do them to DH, to my mum, if someone is having a hard time, to a friend who did them first. (It's sort of like returning a hug). Only ever at the end, not in the middle. Maybe in the middle for DH but that's all. After all he's probably the only person I'd actually kiss in between sentences!

Like Vim, I also hate xx from People I don't know!!

I never put a kiss at the end of my DH texts Grin, always for my eldest and most of the time for my best friend. Other friends it depends if they like it!

I text most people with 'xx'. If I'm texting or messaging them then it's likely I know them and am at least friendly to them. If I'm annoyed, it goes down to one 'x'. I sent 'xx' to everyone excluding people I know from work (not colleagues, but the boss/senior members of staff) and companies like taxi firms, takeaways etc.

I end messages to friends with a X but if it's the husband of a couple then I won't as it pisses me off when dp gets kisses on texts from his ex other women.

DCs yes, plenty of Xs and dp gets lots plus

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 06/03/2016 00:16

Oh and I have to make a point of not putting a X on messages to my ex out of habit! Would be mortified if I accidentally did that.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 06/03/2016 00:20

Seeyounearer you sound like my kind of person Grin

WilLiAmHerschel · 06/03/2016 00:25

X at the end of a text doesn't come naturally to me but I make a conscious effort to do it as it seems like most people do.

As a general rule I follow the lead of the person I'm replying to. If I'm starting the text to someone whose 'x' habit I'm unsure of I usually don't do it in my first message but mgiht if they do it in their reply.

I do it to guys only when I feel apologetic. Do it to my close girl friends too. Typing kisses is quite a hassle to me lol
