Just stinging from a breakup and was wondering what people's favourite words of wisdom or sayings were to make them feel better or the ones that stand out as being completely true?

One of mine is "what's for you won't go by you"

Never apologise, never explain: those against you won't believe you but your friends already know.

This rang true for me when my first marriage ended some years ago.

TheRealQueenOfEngland · 12/11/2015 16:32

When a person tells you that you hurt them, you don't get to decide that you didn't.

FredaMayor · 12/11/2015 16:37

Also the fable of the turtle/frog and the scorpion.

"Ships sail East and ships sail west
While the selfsame breezes blow.
'Tis the set of the sail, and not the gale
Which sends them where they go."

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot accept, and the wisdom to know the difference

Be grateful for what you've got
Because some folk piss in a pot
They haven't a roof over their head
And here's you lying in a bed

Mine's a song. It gives me a sense of perspective when things are shite and helps me see the bigger picture.

You never know how strong you are until being strong is all you can be.

People can only treat you how you let them.
