The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Soaking Up The Warm Sunshine, Instead Of The Warm White Wine!

Hi, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to The Brave Babes Battle Bus.

A place for pouring out your heart without being judged, mostly because a lot of us have been exactly where you are right now, or somewhere similar.

We've been around for a while, so there's not much that we've not seen..... or heard.... or been through ourselves. Sad

Some of the Babes are newer to the Bus, some of the Babes have been here on dear old "Gerald" (The name this Bus was given by one of the Babes, I forget who now!I suspect IsinDe or Silver) for a little while longer!

EVERYONE is welcome here. Drinkers, those who are complete non drinkers, and those who are somewhere in the middle of all of the above. :)

Some Babes are in control of their drinking, some not so much. It's dreadfully hard some days, days when there is nothing going around your head except thinking that you MUST have a drink and you sit there trying to work out when, what time you can have that first mouthful of ice cold poison.

Whatever your goal here, or why you're here, we'll all help you along the way, YOUR WAY.

There will be one of us on here that can relate to your life story as if it were a mirror they were looking at, someone to hold your hand if you want it, catch you if you fall, which you may or may not. Positive thinking, just One Day At A Time.

No one Babe is better than any other, we've all been addicts. We've all suffered, yes some more than others but it's not a competition (and no-one gets turned away) but if you rack up shed loads of sober days, you will be a winner on the thread!! Grin

So, if you want somewhere safe to sit and enjoy the warming summer sun, come find a seat, have a chat or just sit and listen to the rest of us yakking on!! Grin

Nice to meet you :) all.

Also, here is the latest thread -

THE LATEST THREAD WE'VE SHARED OUR STORIES AND EXPERIENCES ON

And this is the very first thread -

AND THIS THREAD, THIS THREAD IS EXTREMELY SPECIAL BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE THE JOURNEY STARTED, AND HAS SINCE EVOLVED OVER THE LAST SIX YEARS

Hope to chat soon, Mousey x

Haha Popstar your version is definitely more uplifting - it's a good thing I have music on my phone that I listen to as otherwise bloody nursery rhyme songs get lodged in there. Made all the more strange as I don't have DC's.

Day 2, debating whether to try & get a couple more hours shut eye or whether to drink bucketloads of tea & catch up on my reading. I suspect option 2 will win, as one or the other of the cats will need something in the next couple of hours....

Looking - that all sounds very hectic! I have friends who work for themselves, and accountants, good ones are worth their weight in gold nods . Good luck with it all, and try to take time out just for yourself (which I guess might be a touch easier now you can dictate to some extent your working patterns).

SweetLathyrus · 02/09/2015 07:44

Morning.

Wow, I missed a busy bus last night. Had a hectic day, the an early night, so sorry I wasn't around.

Hope, Star, you sound so positive. I know working for yourself will bring different stresses, but you just sound so positive and alive Smile.

Small, you'll be ok, stick with it.

Beaches, good to see you again.

Ma, Cat, Pop you did really well last night. Coming to the thread 'after the fact' I read you posts with a kind of breathless intensity, real cheerleading stuff. Thing is, I find when I first stop (I've had a bit of practice Hmm) I find I don't know what to do with myself, because I gave SO much time to drinking. At first I have to force myself to do all of those things Faire suggested, but soon, I find new habits form, and I don't have to look for things, because I get a thought and just get up and do it.

Where are Isinde and Khalisi?

My new glasses arrived yesterday and the world is a revelation! Who knew they hid all those calories on the back of foods Grin!

First day back to school for DS this morning, and for the first time ever, he is actually looking forward to it (my cunning plan of letting him mostly look after himself this Summer has worked, he's desperate for something to do!!).

Day 21 for me, and my app tells me I have saved £244 Blush, that is a ridiculous amount of money. So even with the splurge on plants in the garden centre yesterday, I'm in credit.

Keep on resisting the screaming wine witch, Babes, it gets better, it really does.

dementedma · 02/09/2015 08:15

Morning all
hope good to hear from you and sounding so positive.
Thanks evil. Day 3 here which is always a challenge.
Filling the evenings is difficult. They seem to drag on forever. Mind you its the bake off tonight so that will fill an hour...
Have a good day all, hitch up those Big Girl knickers and let's get through the next 24 hours.

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 08:36

Waking up to day 4. Headache and really thirsty. Kids still asleep. Last day off before school - DD1 not a fan of school so suspect tonight she will have trouble sleeping.
Ma - you can do day 4 - bake off requires tea and cake not silly old booze!

SweetLathyrus · 02/09/2015 09:35

Looking forward to Bake Off here, too, Ma.

Pop - or do you prefer Evil? That'll be your system dealing with the toxins, and, if you were like me, I was never without something in my glass (the booze equivalent of chain smoking), so I am used to constant glugging sipping.

I love my DH. I showed him some stupidly expensive Danish Wellies a few weeks ago that I was planning to put on my Christmas list (don't judge me, it was raining and cold and I was bored). They have just arrived - because he didn't see the point in waiting for three months for something I use every day.

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 09:35

Sorry ma it's dreaded day 3 for you. Apologies. Have moved over to phone as kids have nicked I pad and finding posting a bit fiddly. Anyway onward and upward.

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 09:39

Think I prefer Pop. Otherwise might feel a bit like a malevolent overlord. Bless you DH. Mine has replaced a pair of hideously expensive boots that I bought ten years ago and wore into the ground. But he had to show them to me before my birthday to check the size! Yes, feel like have thirty years of rehydration to do. sweet - or anyone - how do you not drink when you go out for birthdays/ gigs/ occasions etc??? Can't imagine that yet....

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 09:52

All of them since about 1990!!! Grin

SweetLathyrus · 02/09/2015 09:56

Pop, I have to rehearse asking for the first drink over and over - "Could I have a lime and soda please?". I keep that in my mind as I walk up to the bar. I only have to avoid the first one, after that I'm ok. I also volunteer to drive. Anything you wear for ten years ceased to be expensive!

How are you feeling today old gal?

SweetLathyrus · 02/09/2015 09:59

Sorry, 'only avoiding the first one' sounded ridiculously easy and smug, it's not, it's freakishly hard - the number of times "I'll have large Sauvignon Blanc" has been uttered before I have even had the conscious thought - hence the visualisation and rehearsal.

aliasjoey · 02/09/2015 10:19

Morning babes day 2 here.

Good luck with the new job looking
sweets i liked your cunning summer plan, will definitely bear that in mind for the next holidays!

Feeling rather down here, i wonder if it's because I finished my prescription high-dose vitamin D. Was told to start taking a lower dose from Holland and Barret so have to go buy some.

Also, this morning I looked in the mirror and was horrified to see dark patches on my skin! A quick google informs me it's probably the HRT! (the body reacts to extra estrogen from pregnancy, the pill, HRT etc) Shock Sad I don't want to be vain, but....

aliasjoey · 02/09/2015 13:51

Sorry, I should not have said that about the HRT. I know ma is thinking about it, and I don't want to put anyone off! It has made me feel so much better. The pigmentation just means the dose is too high, you should only have enough to help the symptoms of menopause (Even that level isn't enough to delay the menopause, it just takes the worst of the symptoms away)

And the dark patches aren't actually that bad, I'm just feeling quite negative today. In fact I want to call in sick and not go to work tomorrow, but can't think of a good excuse. Just feeling exhausted, lethargic no energy… although sleeping much better. Hmm

beachestoexplore · 02/09/2015 14:56

Hey joey Smile, sorry you are having a bleugh day today babe, I hate it when everything feels too much. As far as the hrt comments, I am glad you are sharing, I am not quite there but am grateful for all information so I don't feel so in the dark. Here have a big bunch of Flowers

Well, it's actually day 3 for me today and I am preparing with clean sheets on the bed - always a treat and definitely not to be wasted on drunken, cross eyed passing out!

Have a good day all, keep on keeping on x

dementedma · 02/09/2015 15:34

preparing for WHAT with clean sheets on the bed beaches? hmmmmmm?

beachestoexplore · 02/09/2015 15:44

NOT sober sex Ma Grin although.......

beachestoexplore · 02/09/2015 15:46

......it might while away at least 10 minutes Wink

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 16:28

Keep going everyone! I'm having a day 4 wobble. DD2 driving me mad with defiance and arguments and winding up her sister. Really want to be able to look forward to a beer at 6. Grrr. Going in search of wine gums...

Listening with interest to HRT wisdom - am around the corner from the menopause myself...

Fairenuff · 02/09/2015 16:54

pop have you tried Becks Blue? Unless you think it will trigger you, it's a good alternative.

Also, try eating something filling, like a big bowl of soup, that can help sometimes.

Hang on in there, you can do it my lovely.

snowball2000 · 02/09/2015 17:06

I'm really feeling the call of the bottle tonight. Kids have been scrappy and fighting all day, I think it's because they're tired from going back to school. I'm in the kitchen and cooking and would just murder a glass of wine about now.

snowball2000 · 02/09/2015 17:09

On the HRT front my doctor tells me that my hormones are all fine, but my cycles have completely changed and I have crazy PMT now. I think something must be going on. Is this how it starts?
Now I've read lots of comments about eating sweets and and wine gums, so does kicking the booze and going on a diet make a bad combination? I am trying to lose the kilos I put on over summer as well as go dry for September

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 17:11

Hmmm. Not sure which way becks blue would push me..... But I'm
I am willing to try anything!

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 17:12

Snow - I think A diet plus no booze sounds really hard! Maybe go for healthy eating instead? Xx

evilpopstar · 02/09/2015 17:47

Beaches - clean sheets. Mmmmmm. Lovely.

More tea for me and then salmon and veggies for tea later.

God life is boring sober ....
