HOBBIT'S BAR - still finding it hard to move on...part 6.

WellWhoKnew · 23/04/2015 22:11

If you are struggling to come to terms with the ending of your marriage, no matter how that came about, nor how long it's been, this is the place where you come to say SHIT THIS IS HARD, when you hit those times of despair.

It is the place where it is never rude to interrupt if you're having a bad day and need to vent. No matter what.

It is a place where no one will tell you to 'move on', 'get over it', or 'at least you've got...'

I've also learnt there's actually a helluva lot of studies into 'delayed shock', which occurs around about months 4 - 6 after the trauma. So if you're surrounded by people (or indeed yourself!) expecting you to be 'getting over it by now', and you're feeling worse than ever...then this is why this thread began. You're pretty normal - it's just the 'real world' ain't dealing with this shit.

And if you're one of those for whom the profound shock has just registered on the Richter scale: it's horrendous. You too belong here.

It is the place where the only thing anyone will tell you to do is keep on keeping on (KOKO) and when you feel you can't: that's okay too. Try again tomorrow.

Amongst the shit, there are always giggles. But the only rule is: It is ALWAYS okay to say SHIT THIS IS HARD and interrupt the giggles. No apology necessary.

The bar, owned by Hobbit, but run by committee, is open to all as we wind our way through divorce, come to terms with our individual circumstances, or just cope with adjusting to a new life.

As for some glossary terms:

Jess is our dog, also owned by Hobbit, but here by popular demand. She perseveres with us all needing a daily dosage of her. Hobbit being the fabulous woman she is makes sure we are taken care of.

Izzitinis are a revolting drink. Izzie is gorgeous and inspirational but misguided in the world of bar cocktails.

No. 6's is what we are/were married to. Check out an earlier thread for what we actually call them.

My name is WellWhoKnew. I am divorced. He left me just shy of 12 months ago. He planned it, I was blindsided. Throughout my horrendous divorce, I learnt that our individual situations are always different, our feelings are the pretty much the same - although not necessarily the same at any given moment in time. THIS SHIT IS HARD with moments of light relief.

And our feelings are valid. Equally.

Our values, our opinions, ourselves matter. As well. No matter what they say.

I am trying to rebuild my life. I'm leaving the deadwood behind. I'm learning to laugh again. One day, I will 'move on', 'get over it' and be thankful that I've got what I've got. Until then I KOKO.

Ermmm.. I can't actually knit, Blush

And Jess being Jess wouldn't really be that friendly with a sheep to be honest, she'd probably try to eat it!

Hi Drifting my love, happy to see ya x

Izzie595 · 26/04/2015 23:29

Have you noticed Hobs has gone very quiet. I reckon she's out there in her wellies and a torch as we speak

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:30

You don't happen to resemble Poldark, drift do you ?

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:35

Ahem! I have got a cow so there!
Gawd, you're difficult to please, working my fingers to the bone, dressing up me dog, spending a fortune on sausages, where s it gonna end?

Izzie595 · 26/04/2015 23:35

Perhaps we could all club together and buy Hobs some hats. Necessary thread expenditure.

Izzie595 · 26/04/2015 23:37

I bloody knew she would hace a cow hat!

No he doesn't look like Poldark, otherwise I wouldn't still be in Rhyl, would I?

iwashappy · 26/04/2015 23:40

You've got a cow!! Hallelujah! Hobbit as you're so kind and hardworking and lovely could we have a cow tomorrow please. I will be nice to you all week and pick on Izzie instead xx Flowers Wine Cake

Izzie595 · 26/04/2015 23:41

Aw Hobs, we do make it easy for you sometimes. She doesnt have to dress up for the Jessages, you just need to get her to write on the card. I will come up with a list of useful words of wisdom to make it easier. And then you will have time to get the tutu ready. I want her in a tutu.....

Ali3333 · 26/04/2015 23:44

Hobbit sorry only answering now but managed to get dd to watch The Kardashians with me... I know they're total trash but she loves to watch it to slag them off. No slagging or speaking but at least she left her room for an hour. So yes on Greys Anatomy, not only did the wife cut it off but just after they reattached it, the OW pulled it off again lol. As they say here in spud picking land "That'll learn ye bai"
Also in bed on iPad trying to not laugh at dog in sheep clothing!
Book downloaded to help with how to deal with dd
The only thing this page lacks ( besides real drink) is I'd love it to have a like button or an applause button, like a real sound.
So my weekend ended meh after starting arrrrgh. Ups and downs, well no actually more downs but I survived it and I didn't bite for dd so that's good too. You girls just are the best

iwashappy · 26/04/2015 23:44

If he looked like Poldark I might go to Rhyl as well!

Hobbit I assume you don't even have any leeks then...

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:47

Sorry, Jess has just packed her belongings in a spotted hankie and bade farewell, the tutu was a step too far. Izzie!

iwashappy · 26/04/2015 23:48

Ali I am so pleased that you spent some time with your DD. Maybe we could use Star as a like? One for you too Star x

bobs123 · 26/04/2015 23:51

Well that's made my night - apparently I am a ....hot MILF Grin go me!!!

I already asked Drifting how he compared to Poldark. I think he said something like it wasn't all about looks Smile

drifted2015 · 26/04/2015 23:51

There is a lot of fuss about this Poldark chap. Nope I don't resemble him . I resemble more , wait for it, Sting ? The chap from the Police ? Not as rich , cannot sing as well as him but that is about the closest I can think of.

The thing I find about this thread is it keeps me awake because it is such a giggle but on the days when I am feeling shit I know that there are so many others feeling the same ... I am not being glib - but all the newbies ( our newest friends ) need to see that we will get better , we will improve, we will be happier & you know what - sometimes I say out loud to myself, it is good to have morals and know I didn't do anything wrong.

And that feels good most of the time . My son loves me and he knows I am a good father.

That means the world to me. He means the world to me.

Right time to wipe away that tear and get some sleep. Off camping next weekend. I will be back & will not lose touch with you wonderful ladies - so keep on looking forward & up.

I really mean that .

iwashappy · 26/04/2015 23:52

Make sure Jess doesn't head to Rhyl!!

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:52

Ha ha Ali serves him right!
I love the Kardashians too, Bruce is a woman now! How bizarre Smile
Only in America
Glad you're ok honey, we're daft bats ain't we?

bobs123 · 26/04/2015 23:53

Ali that's great. Hopefully things will improve. KOKO Flowers

Izzie595 · 26/04/2015 23:56

Sting......I'm in there!

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:56

Ooooh... Who said that Bobs?
That fella with the white stick and the wooden leg? Grin

Hobbitwife001 · 26/04/2015 23:58

I can't talk, I'm a hairy hobbit junkie, apparently Sad

Izzie595 · 27/04/2015 00:00

Camping next weekend with a Sting lookalike. On my 30 th wedding anniversary weekend. Got me rucksack packed.....

bobs123 · 27/04/2015 00:01

Ooih you caaaah! Get back in your hobbit hole Grin it was the first thing that came up and I just thought yep that'll do. I'll have you know that some of DDs male friends have called me a milf - not so much of the hot tho and prob from a distance Hmm

Ali3333 · 27/04/2015 00:02

Yup, all daft but lovely daft
Yep good to at least sit with dd, must have killed her not to talk though. And yes hobbs Bruiser is now a woman in the making... Funny old world.
I should also say, My name is Ali and I have never watched Poldark, apart from in the 1970's when my Mum watched it, back in the day of 3 channels !

Hobbitwife001 · 27/04/2015 00:02

Well I resemble Bruce Jenner drift my love, so you're one up on me Smile
But my dog loves me, so that counts for something.

iwashappy · 27/04/2015 00:03

Bobs must have been all that slap you had on last night!

Drift - Sting? Disappointed, you can stay in Rhyl with Izzie, I will stick with Poldark.

Seriously though yes that is a good point. When we're having a silly night I do wonder if someone new was looking to post that they might be put off, but if this bar had been here when my shit happened I would have found it hard to believe that some of us are only months down the line but yet we are and hopefully that is heartening.

So even though a lot of this is distracting stuff it still is a giggle and even though I came off here after a silly night and still got upset it's still good, I hope, that we can be daft for a while because even being daft for a while would have seemed totally beyond me not that many months ago.

You sound like a great dad and a lovely man and I wish more men had your morals and values. Sleep well and have a lovely time camping.
