holidays - boring fart of a husband

OK we haven't been on holiday for years. Due to Total Boredom I start looking at flights and hotels from our local airport. Spot some great deals. So I say to my hubby - fancy going to Barcelona for a few days ?

Answer. ... No not really

And he carries on watching crap on the tv.

No other comment, no - that would be nice, or when, or how much just " no not really". Guess I will just sit here and carry on being bored. Then :(

go yourself. i would.

WashingUpFairy · 30/03/2015 19:43

What would happen if you told him you'd booked the holiday?

Hotbot · 30/03/2015 19:43

Yes, find somewhere you really fancy and just go an do it !!!!! It's good to do something that terrifies you.
What's the worst that can happen , you hate it and don't go again ..
Gowan Gowan Gowan !!!!!

DaemonPantalaemon · 30/03/2015 19:50

Why do you need him to go? Can't you go on your own?

brimfullofasha · 30/03/2015 19:54

Is there anywhere he would like to go? If not, I'd go on my own. There's something amazing about exploring a city alone and being able to wander or be spontaneous about what you do.

2stixoftwix · 30/03/2015 20:07

tempting - I could take my 11 year old daughter with me .....

don't know if I could bare the grumpy / sulkyness from him if I actually did it !

My husband is just like this. The kids are grown up the house is paid off and we actually have some money and he doesn't want to do anything!

I am probably too scared to go abroad on my own so I have askec a few friends and started going off for long weekends with them. Look on the bright side you can have twice as many holidays if you are only paying for one person.

FlappertyFlippers · 30/03/2015 20:10

Do it! Take your daughter and have an awesome time.

Hotbot · 30/03/2015 20:11

Daughter weekend sounds lovely ... Barcelona is great for all ages , Paris? I loved Berlin
It could just be the kick up the backside out of complacency ......

Yes, just go. Life is too short to sit around not seeing the world if you have the chance to see it. Book those flights.

AnyFucker · 30/03/2015 20:15

just go with your daughter

if he moans say "you had your chance, adios pal"

bigTillyMint · 30/03/2015 20:17

What Hassled said.

Primadonnagirl · 30/03/2015 20:17

I think it's a bit extreme going straight from this to going on your own.( which of course you are perfectly entitled to) . My H does this to me andI just answer honestly. We struggle to find new places now we both want to go. But I admit I would have offered more info..like why it didn't appeal or an alternative . How would " I really fancy a City break..only about 3 or 4 days. I know you don't fancy Barcelona but where else would you go instead?!" go down ?

Sickoffrozen · 30/03/2015 20:19

Why are you with him? Does he have any redeeming features or is he just a bore in general?

championnibbler · 30/03/2015 20:20

go with your daughter if he won't go.

Primadonnagirl · 30/03/2015 20:21

You see my DH does all the planning in his head so by the time he actually asks me he's already there in his mind!! He just doesn't get that he's therefore had longer to think about it than I have so when he tells me its a bit left field to me but he can't understand my reticence cos he's got it all mapped out! I'm not saying you did this OP I'm just trying to explain why nice ideas can be met with a lack of enthusiasm!

dottygamekeeper · 30/03/2015 20:22

Prog on Barcelona at 8.30pm tonight (not sure which channel).

Barcelona is fab - I went with my teens last October (and left DH at home). Really good value for money (esp the cava!), lovely warm weather at end of Oct, great art, architecture, shopping, food....

AnyFucker · 30/03/2015 20:23

oh, I am sure the H will lower himself to go

after expecting a lot of fluffing and jollying along by OP, am I right ?

AnyFucker · 30/03/2015 20:23

dotty, is it the one with my most recent crush Richard Ayoade ?

toffeeboffin · 30/03/2015 20:26

Go on your own. You might find an interesting person to talk to...

alicemalice · 30/03/2015 20:27

Why is it extreme? You don't have to do everything together.

toffeeboffin · 30/03/2015 20:27

Def take DD with you - you'll have a ball!

AnyFucker · 30/03/2015 20:28

ohhh, I feel a visit to booking.com coming on....

toffeeboffin · 30/03/2015 20:28

I'd love a city break - nice hotel, different food, Spanish people, stopping for an Orangina in a little café...

MrSlant · 30/03/2015 20:28

I have ditched the H and taken my children on our first ever fun holiday, it was the best two decisions I have ever made Grin. Living with someone with so little sense of fun is soul sucking.
