He hid it in my bag at the seaside and asked me infront of my Ds's if I would marry him.
And I said YES!!

NAAM-I think we are going to have to be ruthless and have small day time and massive night time do.
I really want roast beef and then bacon butties about midnight.
Not too much to ask is it??

congrats! but is he really iniviting his cousins??

NotActuallyAMum · 26/10/2006 16:29

Hmm, agree the venue could be a problem for that amount of people. Don't know if this site has anything suitable

I still reckon you can do it for less than 10k though. Seriously, you don't have to spend a fortune if you don't want to. It's so easy to get carried away though but fortunately I'm a tight arsed git so it hasn't been a problem for me. I'm having my cake from Marks and Spencer , not bothering with photographers (plenty of guests with digital cameras, buying single use ones), not bothering with cars (no-one would see them anyway with it all being in the same place), getting artifical flowers - a quarter of the cost of real ones - from this ebay shop, and I've had a lot of bits and bobs from this place

NotActuallyAMum · 26/10/2006 16:30

x posts there spook - took me ages to do the links

If you want roast beef and bacon butties then go for it, sounds good to me

hermykne · 26/10/2006 16:31

we didnt bother with cars either - sich a waste of money imo
venue i had my mums house and a marquee which was good value.

maybe you have a good friend who can take some photos for you as i had a professional and a firend who is a semi prof and his were ten times better and more atmospheric

if thers so many cousins why not do it in ireland?

Wilbur · 26/10/2006 16:33

Hi Hermykne! I may be slightly exaggerating on the cousin thing, but my family is scattered and tiny. he is full blown Irish Catholic and ofcourse-this is his first (eldest son too) wedding!! (unlike my good self )

Congratlations!

Don't know history but sounds like you deserve this.

Try Monsoon for wedding dresses and accessories. Thats where I got mine from, and I felt so wonderful (it didn't look like it was off the shelf iyswim)

LaDIEDaDIE · 27/10/2006 17:43

Lovely news, I do love weddings!

Judy1234 · 27/10/2006 18:30

You must have a Catholic wedding, definitely. Anyway they don't have to be big. You can even just have the mass in church but no food after. Church weddings can be incredibly cheap but very special.

spook · 27/10/2006 18:32

Thanks Xenia. Just got to persuade the good Catholic priests of Newcastle to take on a divorcee now
