Concious uncoupling.

Just read the most irritating thing from Gwyneth Paltrow. Which takes some doing. Apparently, Chris Martin was too young to be a husband and father at 25 years of age. Too young for a man, according to Gwynnie. Is there some reason that a 25 year old man should still be thought of as a child, and if so, at what age are men considered grown up adults, for God's sake? If I were a man, I would be very annoyed at being infantalised like this.

Can't link, apologies. On phone.

She's an obnoxious twit with her head in the clouds and the delusional belief that she can tell the rest of us little ants how to live our lives.

TendonQueen · 01/01/2015 02:28

She has to come up with some reason that wasn't to do with her, and that isn't contentious in a way he could sue her for. This is the result. Take no notice.

CheerfulYank · 01/01/2015 02:30

Men are beyond infantilized these days but eurghhh.

bettyboop1970 · 01/01/2015 02:34

She is such a patronising dullard!

Squtternutbaush · 01/01/2015 02:50

Well perhaps she shouldn't have helped him become a father or a husband at 25 if he was such a twat?

I mean, I agree he seems like a twat but so is she.

FoxgloveFairy · 01/01/2015 02:51

My Dad was married with a son and another on the way at that age. Provided for his family and is still a very involved ( oh, so involved!) and loving husband and father at 79.

Is he really only 26? He looks much older

WipsGlitter · 01/01/2015 08:37

Maybe she's saying he was too young. Not all men. I don't mind Gwinnie, and I think their conscious uncoupling is a great example on how to split and not mind fuck everyone - going on what we see in the media, who knows what it's like in private.

WipsGlitter · 01/01/2015 08:40

He was that age when they met which was 10+ years ago, so he's in his 30s now.

Isetan · 01/01/2015 08:48

My Ex was 31 when he became a father, he wasn't and probably never will be, 'old' enough to be a father. I haven't infantilized him.

Tobyjugg · 01/01/2015 10:18

Any man married to Ms Paltrow would look older than his years.

Tobyjugg · 01/01/2015 10:19

Sorry, that was for Middle

CuttedUpPear · 01/01/2015 10:25

She has an older man on the go and is paving the way for the big reveal.

LalaLoopsylover · 01/01/2015 11:07

I don't really have any time for her and she says some pretty useless, banal things! But I have to say I find this one of the more sensible things she has said.

I don't think it's an outrageous claim that 25 is too young. There are many, many 25 year olds who are mature enough but I have to say the majority of people I know, were too "young" at 25 and were better to leave parenting until later.

Joysmum · 01/01/2015 11:08

I hate everybody that generalise Wink

Bloomingflower1 · 01/01/2015 11:13

Okay, in her opinion he was too young when they got married. Thats open to debate. Its interesting that she doesn`t talk about her own faults and how she contributed to the failed relationship. That takes strength and until she can do this then expect a long string of failed relationships.

LabradorMama · 01/01/2015 11:15

This poor woman can't do anything right, can she? Do you think she wants to discuss the details of her relationship breakdown with the world press? Of course not. So she chooses an inoffensive, impersonal response to help retain some shreds of privacy and dignity for her family and now you're calling her banal and a twat.

I wonder how you feel she should have handled it better?

Essexgirlupnorth · 01/01/2015 11:18

I remember reading a article in the NME when Coldplay first started with Chris Martin saying he couldn't get a girlfriend then he was hooked up with Gwyneth.

misskangaandroo2014 · 01/01/2015 11:19

She says he was too young then goes on to say about being proud they're not blaming and shaming Hmm . Because implying 25 is too young for responsibility in print is neither?

Lweji · 01/01/2015 11:27

It sounds like a polite way of saying he was a crap husband and father according to her criteria.

She wasn't supposed to talk about their relationship while with him and she still probably doesn't want for her children to see negative comments about their father on the press.

Or she is grasping at straws to explain why she didn't want to be married to him anymore.

How would anyone of us explain our breakups to the press?

Lweji · 01/01/2015 11:28

Also I thought someone had resurrected a zombie thread. Are we still discussing Gwinnie's separation?

SurlyCue · 01/01/2015 11:34

Do they have to explain their break up to the press? They arent jordan and the orange one, no-one would be in the least surprised if the martin/paltrows chose not to discuss it.

And if they must then a simple "it wasnt working anymore" saves any blame or hurt.
