Internet Dating, anyone tried ones which work and met someone?

I am contemplating trying internet dating, not so much the quick fling ones you don't pay for but the ones which are good and could potentially meet someone worthwhile, anyone have any good ones or good stories to share that have come out positive online!! tried match but hit and miss for me at the moment....!!

I met my DP on ok Cupid. Both of us had thought we'd try a free one and see how it went and we're nice and happy 2.5 years later :)

I met my DH on plenty of fish

I met my dp on match.com. Had a few nice dates before I met him too.

I think it depends what you are after. There are lots of nice chaps looking for long term partners on match.com I think.

It is hard to find nice, fun, confident, happy men who want some no strings shagging for a few months and then move on. I suppose they have all been snapped up.

Like Miranda I met my DP on OKCupid. Been together nearly 4 years and moving in together next year ....
There are nice men out there just have to keep your bullsh*t radar on high, grow a thick skin and be prepared for a lot of tosses, time wasters and married toe rags!

Well I met my boyfriend on POF, been together 7 months now and he is great! I have a -no doubt flawed-theory that the paid-for sites might encourage desperate people, whereas the free ones might attract someone more relaxed about seeing who turns up..? Mine was my third date and they all seemed nice guys. I wonder whether its better to move quickly and message the new profiles as they are more likely to be genuine whereas the ones who have been on there months might have issues or be playing the sweet shop game maybe? One of my (lovely, attractive) girlfriends also met her long term partner on POF, they seem a perfect couple..

my only concern was that I am turning 40 next year in Feb and a few men preferred the younger ones....so not too sure if it catered more for the younger on POF or match....when i say younger I mean twenties or early thirties perhaps!

Found DH on eharmoney! Got married in August, 4 +1 pregnant today :)

Met my DH on POF...married 3 weeks and 1day, together for 5 years in total! We are both now 46 (41 on 1st date!). My advice, go for it...also:
If your gut feeling says they are dodgy...move on
If they mess you about...move on
Expect nothing...I spent ages just reading the forums!
Don't take it too seriously...oh and finally
Decided what it is you are looking for and don't let anyone sway you from that!

You may not believe this but I met the love of my life on... Tinder! We are both 42, 2 x DC each have been together nearly a year and looking at moving in together.
I found Guardian Soulmates, (which I'd thought to be the most likely one for me) to be shockingly bad - older "sucessfull" arrogant men looking for much younger women to have babies with. Also tried POF, had a few dates that were quite nice. But with Tinder you don't get the tedious profiles ... "I've travelled the world, I'm really sporty, look at me I'm ace ..." It's basically "would you? If so, let's chat for a bit"

Internet dating can work very well, but you're unlikely to meet the love of your life on the first date. I dated for years, on and off, before I met dp. Met some nice people with whom I'm still friends, and had a few disappointments. But no bad experiences.

Go into it with your eyes open and your head screwed on, and enjoy!

i met my current DP on POF in the last three years have met some nice guys but wasnt going anywhere long term, some idiots who didnt get to a second date and some guys in between the two, im late fifties age wise so its never too late to find someone, we have been together for a year now and he treats me right and i treat him right and possibly after christmas we will be looking at moving in together

I met DP on Guardian Soulmates. We've been together 5 years and have a 1 yr old DD. I'd used pof and okc before that. OKC was less sleazy and more fun than pof and the questions people answered can be quite illuminating.
We were 29 and 30 when we met, I think age demographics can be a factor in how successful you find a specific site. Although at 29 on all the sites I got messages from men in their 50s who seemed to think I would be interested and wereat pains to tell me that they were "young 50 something" or not a typical 50 something.

I met my gorgeous DP of nearly 2 years on LoveandFriends - I found it a bit less full on than some of the other sites. I thought match.com was terrifying!

Think it might only be in the south east so depends where you live and maybe I was (very) lucky as he was the only man I met from there and we really hit it off. I think it's free.

Oh and we are both in our 40s. I did receive a few messages from men in their 60s but I didn't let that put me off.

POF for me too. I was on there on and off for about 3 years. met a couple of wankers, a couple of scam artists, a couple of 3 month things, and then met DP on there August 2013. We clicked immediately, I broke the rules with mobile exchange and messages from the start, somehow I just knew. I was just deactivating my account after an awful date, and some time alone when he caught my eye - I wouldnt have ordinarily messaged how I did, but it worked, hed only just joined and my message caught his eye too.

He said his main attraction immediately was my profile. it was me. I am geeky, silly, busy, educated but funny, and apparently my profile captured all of this perfectly and hes just as similar. I wasnt everyones cup of tea, but I was his

its been nearly a year and a half and I couldnt be happier. It took me putting an honest me profile, and taking a while to realise I shouldnt settle, but POF was worth it for me.
