Newly single. . Not looking for an ego stroke (well maybe a little bit)..I signed up to tinder. My my my! What a sweet shop! I had to close it down in the end or else I would have been swiping all night! Is this just hook up site or is there a chance of finding true love? as long as its within a 3 mile radius

I think tinder may be a hook up site, yes. All well and good if thats what you want. I met my husband online through OK Cupid. Bit better as there seemed to be people looking for more than a quickie, although not always. Luckily my husband was looking for the real thing too.
I think the sites you pay for are probably better, Match.com etc.
After internet dating I think that you need to have a thick skin and a good idiot radar.

I hope I have had enough idiots to last a lifetime. . Unfortunately they often come in different guises. I just hope I don't get a penis shot. seriously what is that all about.

On tinder since Weds and have made my situation clear - three kids and looking for a partner in crime not a one night stand.

Reckon it's about laying out your priorities.
Many people I know have met through tinder.
It used to be about quick sex - now it's about finding someone with similar wants.
I like the fact that I ve found several guys who have mutual friends. Not interested in them but nice to know we had a link.
Tried Mumsdatedads as well and that was good but can't afford it at the moment.

Just going through these tinder profiles. I don't understand why people would put ' I have been cheated on betrayed and hurt' in an opening gambit?

hi frog I've been on tinder for about 3 weeks now but have done OLD with paid sites before, and so far all my dates from Tinder have been similar in quality to the sites.

I think it is about you knowing what you want, no one can force you to go on a date with someone who can't string a sentence together and is obviously after just a hook-up nor can they convert you to mormonism if that's not your cup of tea as happened to me, yes on tinder!

What I did find initially strange, apart from the complete lack of background information, was that l get a lot of matches but then no conversation and I've put those down who are on there for just an ego boost, ie ooh look at me, I'm attractive to someone, and I've also heard that some men literally swipe right for everyone and then go through their matches after they've been matched.

As with OLD in general, a thick skin is a must and the idea that their behaviour is a reflection of them not you!

The conversation is difficult. However I have just found a very good friend of mine on there we matched (I didn't have the heart to swipe no) but we are having a good laugh now and sharing our mutual despair.

If you are looking for love then it's not the best site, so I've heard, but then I'm not looking for love, so it's perfect for what I want. I have no idea what's with all the hugging of various big cats in profile pictures though

I've been looking on there for a couple of weeks. I'm not convinced that the 'quality' is much different to some other sites. TBH I'm new to this and the only guy I have met up with at all is from Tinder. He seemed legit and safe as houses but no spark.

So update!
Went on date and it was great. Coffee at local shopping centre.
We even went for a wander round shops afterwards.
It was really nice and has restored my faith in me.

I agree with all the matches that are made then don't chat but have had some great conversations and all seem fine with my situation which I was really surprised about.

Yes, I've met a few. Seeing one now, but it's not a serious relationship. Just fun! Met two complete weirdos!

Well. I am going on a 'date' on Friday. I say date but its just a cup of tea at his garage. (He is self employed and can't get out for a break) I am working around the corner on that day so I suggested a quick meet. I think this is much better (for me anyway) than a date night.

I have just had another look and a guy came up. Nice looking on a huge luxury boat. They all have boats don't they? Then I thought hang on.. he looks familiar. . Its my former partners friend. He does indeed own the boat. I went to his wedding. The marriage barely lasted a year. Unfortunately what mr boatman doesn't realise it has pulled his Facebook pictures of him and said ex wife cuddling up on boat and signing the marriage register!

I'm a man who has recently tried Tindr as it is nowhere near the "hook up" app it once was and it's used much more for dating. However, I have been shocked at how many women have photos of them with their kids or just their kids on there. Not to mention how often it says that someone is "5 miles away" yet the text below clearly states they are in Solihull (which is about 45 miles away) or London (90 miles away).

I think a lot of people who connect it to Facebook don't realise that it pulls in random photos from Facebook. Hence the picture of the guy signing the marriage register. But yes some have their kids in the profile pic... wtf?
