The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Getting Ready For The Golden Sights Of Autumn In Search Of Sobriety.

Hello everyone, I'm Mouse :) and this is the Bus I've been on a while now!

It's filled with a variety of drinkers. Those that do, those that don't, and those who are desperate to STOP but hide it, or embrace it and get the help they NEED.

'Help' in whatever form works for them, your friend or you. Be it AA, a Local Community Alcohol Counselling Group, your GP, your family/friends, this thread or even a combination of all of the above!

You have to want to stop drinking more than wanting to breathe.

I know that right now, that may sound like a ridiculous goal.

They got sober, One Day At A Time then came here during the process to chat about it, discuss their feelings, but more than anything else, their experiences HELPED OTHERS TO BELIEVE that they too could get dry.

They might not get dry and stay dry, sometimes they'll be lying about their consumption, fooling themselves as well as others

BUT when the posters do get dry for good, come back and post to help others with their tricks of the trade or just to say 'I did it!!' my heart jumps for joy because that person, poster, Brave Babe has gone through hell and back, lived to tell the tale and now wants to share that with the rest of the Bus to see if one simple trick or technique will put them on the track to recovery, sobriety, to the life that they want to lead :)

There's two saying that have appeared to stick with us -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We all have our own reasons for starting to drink 'too much', we all have an excuse don't we.... we all have a "but....."

Well, as I say to Nemo (who you will get to hear about Grin) - goats butt!

And for those of you who want to know a bit more -

HERE IS THE MOST RECENT THREAD

AND THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, OVER FOUR YEARS AGO!!!

See you soon x

Evening, tis me, Mouse

HIPPY BARTHDAY ISINDE DAHARLING!!! Grin

I hope you've had a great day, I've not read back Blush sorry Babes

Well, I am pooped. I'm not sure if I mentioned that Nemo had been awarded in a group that will help with his motor skills (fine and gross), his listening, his confidence and all round development.

And he hates it Sad

I think that he'll get used to it, in time. He's not good with change; autistic children aren't.

Although they have no idea where to place him, or give him an official diagnosis (DO NOT GET ME STARTED!), so we'll just see how we go, try to make it as much fun as we can and cross our fingers that he settles, given it's only day 2!!!! Hmm

I have my first Mental Health Assessment next week...... no idea what that means or if it will help....... too much sadness just now.

It's 9 yrs since we lost Charlie, Harry and George on Sunday and I can't help wonder what they'd be like..... only natural I guess.

Right, enough doom and gloom.

It's great to see Rural and Thurso back!! And anyone else I have missed who hasn't been here for a while.

I am sending you all opal fruits (of any colour you like!!! Grin) and warm huggles.

I'm hoping for some rest tomorrow..... and a bit more fat lost too!

Night, night lovelies xxx

PS - sorry for any typos, headache-a-tastic, day number 15..... and yes, I've told the doc so they may find something in the bloods? Who knows. xxx

I had a good run of 26 days, but now I'm back to day 1 again. I weirdly feel like I needed to remind myself how little drinking does for me. Not too bad, but my sluggish brain after a bottle of wine is something I really didn't miss at all.

Anyway, I was wandering in the woods and not thinking too hard, so now it's time to get back on the bus and do the hard work again.

emopod · 27/09/2014 08:25

Happy Birthday Inindethickofit! Sounds like you had a lovely time - hope the party is good fun tonight.

Mouse Sorry to hear you're feeling down. I hope the mental Health meeting is helpful. I hope the group becomes familiar and not too scary for Nemo soon.

Wishing everyone on this big bus the happiest and easiest possible weekend.

dementedma · 27/09/2014 08:26

Welcome back emopod and well done on 26 days!
Anyone up for sober October?
wry he thanked me for a lovely evening on Monday and then said < puts hand over mouth and whispers furtively>
I blushed!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 27/09/2014 10:03

Oooooooooh ma, summat really good then!! That's lovely, a wee pick-me-up afore the weekend! You don't need a chamois ma girl, you are obviously very shiny already! I'm that chuffed for you, xx

inde glad you had a lovely day, have a fab time at your party! xx

joey you and me both quine, you and me both...day one today though, let's make it a good 'un!xx

baby Good morning petal, how are you doing today? The sun is shining here so I'm off to my pal's for a ride and to let Little live the dream in straw and horseshit. Love the delight on her wee face when she twigs where she's going Grin What are you up to today? Anything nice planned?

emo 26 days is brilliant, A few of us have had a wee stumble, I'm with you though, it's given me a fuzzy head, and my face is puffy. I hate the fuzzy feeling. xx

Mouse I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and that you all get the help and support you want and need, will be thinking of you tomorrow, xx

spanna morning lovey! How are you today? The sun is shining again here. Had a big awd glass or two or three last night, I felt like I was going to implode...so......sit beside me, I'll even let you clap my merkin. (it's okay, it's in my bag, I'm not wearing it) xx

My Friday did not go too well, one of those days where you feel like paperwork is taking priority and it shiting well shouldn't. Of course the computer and I have a quiet loathing for one another so that didn't help. I wanted to rip it's little keys out one by one, dribble a little Irn Bru over the keys, take a brillo pad and some vim to it's screen. But I didn't. We live to spar another day.

Phrase hope you have a lovely weekend lass, how are you feeling today? xx

crabby Morning sweetheart! How have you been? Look what I found.... it's called a merkin crab ..I'm going to buy one for my dad for his fishing. It will make me hoot when he uses it Grin xx

(psssssst...doesn't it look like a thistle....)

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 27/09/2014 10:05

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaairrrrrrry Baaaaaaaaaaaaaws..... where'd my picture go?!? My laptop has obviously been chatting to the one at work.....

aliasjoey · 27/09/2014 11:55

It can't really be called a merkin crab? You are making that up, right...?

I've got a rotten cold, and I shouldn't have had a drink last night.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 27/09/2014 12:18

It is, it is!!!!! Honest! See I might learn to enjoy fishing with my dad if I can have a wee snigger to myself Grin

I wish I hadn't had a drink either joey, could kick myself. Hope you feel better soon, colds are a right misery, eh?

How's your car situation coming along? xx

Okay. I'm sorry for saying bad stuff about the work computer. Now behave yourself.

babyjane1 · 27/09/2014 13:17

Hi de hi my lovelies,

Rockin day 13 and luckily I have no cravings. It has taken me a while to figure out which came first, the depression/anxiety or the booze!!! It's defo the depression. For reasons I will never understand my mood fluctuates between feeling hopeful, content and grateful to being desparately sad, unworthy, ugly and hopeless then comes the wine to anaesthetise the pain that despair brings, rinse and repeat...

Although I've been poorly this week and dd2 has been a nightmare I feel so chuffed that dd1 has relaxed around me and dh says I am returning to the old me with every passing day. Anxiety is a big problem for me, my anxiety processor is crap, I go from 0 to 60 in minutes and when I feel like my heads gonna blow off with stress I'll do anything to calm the chaos. Q wine, copious amounts of it then later all the horrid, nasty effects that perpetuate the depression/ anxiety....

So I need to watch out for the depression triggers and continue to be grateful for all the good things in my life xxxx

To our lovely babes who had a wee toty slip, it's no biggie, you've done amazingly well so I reckon it's easier to work it out as a ratio as a wise babe did a while ago so emopod you would be 26/1, I would be 12/0 do that keeps it all in perspective and you don't lose your sober days.

Sometimes we need to remind ourselves why we don't want to drink then carry on with our journey to dewy skin, swishy hair and that LBD that will confirm our fabulousness forever xxxxx

Love to all, I luffs you all xxx

dementedma · 27/09/2014 14:43

Day 13 is awesome babe.
I have just been massaged to a pulp by Derek whose pointy elbows found the sore bits so accurately I had to tell him to fuck off or I would punch him. Sadist just laughed. When I arrived I told him I had a cold and sniffles at which he turned to one of his staff and said, "Put away the lavender oil and break out the Dettol!" He does make me laugh.

babyjane1 · 27/09/2014 16:04

ma Derek sounds fabulous, I'm glad he's brightened your day, a masseuse and a distracted chap, if I didn't like you so much I'd hate you!!!!! Mwah xx

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 27/09/2014 18:09

Day 1 again, but going to do it today. had my first rotten diet day, been sticking to SW for months but today only butter and white bread would do. ah well I will give myself today and get some control over diet back tomorrow. hope you saved a seat for me somewhere.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 27/09/2014 18:35

Psst Phrase?

His camera is a Canon, he has both the 50D mkII, a 1000 and the 600, If it helps to find exact model I think he said it cost 8-900 pounds 2-3 years ago. I think her photos are on the 50D, and there is a wee hatch with 'card open' on it.

I have an HP G62 laptop if that is any help? I can find out the types of the ports (tries to sound techy but prob not) on it tomorrow evening.

This will be more of a reconnaissance mission I'm afraid, I won't have much time here this weekend, next weekend should be better time wise.

Right found the manual. It says I have to down a software program before I can connect the camera to my laptop...Sad It doesn't say I can pop a card in...

Have to dash, the shower has just gone off

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 27/09/2014 18:38
