The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Getting Ready For The Golden Sights Of Autumn In Search Of Sobriety.

Hello everyone, I'm Mouse :) and this is the Bus I've been on a while now!

It's filled with a variety of drinkers. Those that do, those that don't, and those who are desperate to STOP but hide it, or embrace it and get the help they NEED.

'Help' in whatever form works for them, your friend or you. Be it AA, a Local Community Alcohol Counselling Group, your GP, your family/friends, this thread or even a combination of all of the above!

You have to want to stop drinking more than wanting to breathe.

I know that right now, that may sound like a ridiculous goal.

They got sober, One Day At A Time then came here during the process to chat about it, discuss their feelings, but more than anything else, their experiences HELPED OTHERS TO BELIEVE that they too could get dry.

They might not get dry and stay dry, sometimes they'll be lying about their consumption, fooling themselves as well as others

BUT when the posters do get dry for good, come back and post to help others with their tricks of the trade or just to say 'I did it!!' my heart jumps for joy because that person, poster, Brave Babe has gone through hell and back, lived to tell the tale and now wants to share that with the rest of the Bus to see if one simple trick or technique will put them on the track to recovery, sobriety, to the life that they want to lead :)

There's two saying that have appeared to stick with us -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

We all have our own reasons for starting to drink 'too much', we all have an excuse don't we.... we all have a "but....."

Well, as I say to Nemo (who you will get to hear about Grin) - goats butt!

And for those of you who want to know a bit more -

HERE IS THE MOST RECENT THREAD

AND THIS IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, OVER FOUR YEARS AGO!!!

See you soon x

Get well soon my lass, big party on Friday! I think we give Mel and Sue from GBBO a run for their money. We can outsmut them any day! Grin

They should have a ride on our bus.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/09/2014 21:55

We'd be Jilly Cooperesque I reckon, all coffee and homemade bread, warming our stockinged soles at the aga, cheeks rosy from the fresh air, reeking of horses and hay with a furry pile at our feet.

Not red furry pile as mentioned above. I mean dogs and stuff. xx

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/09/2014 22:05

Away to watch the fantabulous Crackanory. I love a good bedtime story, and the lovely Rik Mayall is reading the second one. Gone too soon, sweetheart, gone too soon.

aliasjoey · 24/09/2014 22:12

Rowies with bacon in?! I have never heard of that! Not sure if I like the idea or not...

Well done you on pouring the wine down the sink!

I have had an interesting day... It's my day off, so naturally I got a call from school saying DD was ill and I had to pick her up. Brought her home, my car started making a horrendous noise, and I realised the exhaust had dropped off.

I drove it slowly to the garage where they said they'd have a look. So they went to put it up on the ramp, and I was actually watching as this happened, but the exhaust flipped up, caught the bumper and ripped a massive gash right through the car...! Shock I was in total shock... It was like watching something in slow motion.

So. It's going to take them days to fix that right? I can cycle to work as long as it's not raining. Can't take DD to school, she can't walk because of her feet and anyway I wouldn't be able to pick her up if she still felt poorly. So I think she's going to stay home tomorrow. (The first time we have let her stay at home all day by herself - she has been left for a couple of hours before)

It's a good thing I can't get to sainsburys cause I do want a drink now!

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/09/2014 22:25

Shock that would be the garage's responsibility, surely? Ripped through the car?!? They must provide you with a courtesy car?

I prescribe (in me nursey capacity) that you both take the day off, make lots of tea and toast and watch fillums.

I hope they sort it out for you soon, petal, what a rotten day you've had.

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 24/09/2014 22:39

That wis a good crackanory....

Ooooh advert! Status Quo and Chas N Dave on tour!

Christmas present for dad, sorted! Grin

aliasjoey · 24/09/2014 22:55

Would love to take the day off, but I'm already being watched at work for excessive sick leave.

How are you doing quine?

Mouseface · 24/09/2014 22:59

Evening, tis me, Mouse

Just a quick selfish update on my 'ickle boy.... he's okay but having flashbacks of when he went through emergency open heart surgery.... he was 6 months old. Came close to dying. He's very clingy.

His nurse has said that this is common and that he is suffering from PTSD from his first op at 6 months old.

Anywho, our gorgeous teen is back at school after her germ fest tomorrow and Nemo starts his extra schooling support in the morning. Tooooooo early!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I must call my friends who have called me and I have had no power, or credit to call back!! BIG LIST TIME!!!!

Oh and today's mental Mouse utter fuck up was me getting to the docs and hour early! Getting cross at the lady at the desk once, telling her she was wrong when it was me who was wrong! I misread the time Blush

I hate this, I am mad I'm not me!! I'm not the me I like.....

HELP. It makes me sad. Thank Jeff I'm not nailing it with drink.

Night Babes, you are all lovely xxx

Flaming hell, joey, watched for having sick leave? That saddens me, if you're sick, you're sick. And what would make you sicker than seeing your car cleft in twa? not much. I'm fine lovey, stopped crying anyway, always a bonus! xx

When I am Health Minister I am going to have compulsory Doonie Days for all bus folk.

Aww poor wee Nemo, just because they're wee doesn't mean they don't take on everything that's happening round them.

Mouse You're nae mad, you've just got more than your fair share on your plate. And your thing about the doctor's appt? That was your bean juice touching your egg. Scrape some of your plate onto our plates Mouse, you are amazing, you keep on going, wonderwoman you are, xx

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 25/09/2014 00:12

Good morning lovely soc, how are ye? Doos aye pickin?

Night night lovely soc, I'm off to bed, early shift tomorrow, have a lovely day, hope the sun is shining for you, catch you early doors, xxx

beachestoexplore · 25/09/2014 02:17

Oh Wry sweetheart, sorry those tears keep finding their way to the surface but sometimes they are better out than in and certainly nothing to feel ashamed of. Bloody hormonal surges though, it can be overwhelming and unsettling. Oh, but red furry pile Grin you do have a way with words!

Phrase I am not sure how I missed you out yesterday, I was sure I mentioned your obvious love for all things on the brown beige spectrum of decor - it wasn't there though and is now out of step. Humpf. I blame the baps.

Hello to all babes. Have a bonny day xx

thurso14 · 25/09/2014 07:18

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Isinde Flowers.

Love to all, and special hugs to Mouse, you'll soon be back to being you, (although you still sound the same, caring Mouse as ever).

I'm fine, mad job, but keeping up with the thread which gives me strength. Obviously, I must try and post more, can't keep on just taking it out!

Have a good day wonderful Babes.

Much love
T xxx

thurso14 · 25/09/2014 07:19

Just realised it's tomorrow Isinde Blush.

Arf @ baby - don't apologise for the smut! I love a double entendre, me.

joey - nooooooooo! On the bright side though, the disaster happened in exactly the right place - the garage. And they did it so they should pay for it. I hope they can fix it soon.

beaches, there will be no brown in this house when I'm done. Anywhere. Not even where it's sensible or actually looks fine. I'm on a mission Grin Did I mention that the radiators have also been painted . . . brown?

wry, I've not tried the sleep bra but I was tempted yesterday because they WRECKED when I woke up. There's a part of me that loves the soreness though, because it's reassuring. They hurt a lot more than any previous pregnancy and it's keeping the fretting at bay. I was thinking that if we get a good result at the scan in 11 days (eep), I'll invest in some new bras. I've nearly grown out of my normal ones Blush If I get some other reassurance that things are OK, I'll be free to reduce the bap soreness!

mouse, it sounds like you're doing your very best and everything's just a bit disconnected right now. That's not a failure, it's natural and human - we can't be OK all the time. You've got so much on your shoulders and you're still doing ALL the big things that need doing - caring for your children, keeping the WW at bay, going to the doc's. Massive respect! Flowers

Waves for isinde, thurso, spanna and everyone else . . .

So I suspect I have morning sickness now. Or rather, 10-til-4-low-level-queasiness. I've just booked in a walking holiday at the end of October with my best friend, and I've got my fingers firmly crossed that I won't be cancelling or throwing up into every other bush Blush I've got an iron constitution generally, so hoping I won't get uber-pukey . . .

I haven't had a drink for 17 days now. My evenings are changing shape . . . everything doesn't have to stop at 5:30 so I can drink. Suddenly there's a whole evening there Smile

dementedma · 25/09/2014 09:25

Thurso!!!!!! Good to see you my man! How's the sex life?
Missed all these posts so going to have to just throw a generic super bosie down the bus. DDs birthday went ok, despite a text from dd1 saying "if that little shit has got my earrings I'm going to kill her" which didn't bode well....
The boyfriend is lovely and spent the evening pretending to be interested in DS's long winded explanations of how Minecraft works, which has already made him suitable son in law material in my book, although I don't EVER want the dds to get married.....
I don't usually post pics on my profile for fear of outing but am going to try and upload two...DD with her first birthday cake and with her 21st birthday cake . Where did the time go?

MaryMungoAndMidgies · 25/09/2014 09:41

Inde I went to an after show party for Simply Red, he was so friendly, not at all up himself, a real gentleman. Probably because I'm a fat bird. He sang a couple of songs, and I melted, dude can sing and I wasn't a fan before then. Have a lovely day with your charity folk, sounds like a fab day to be at work!

I do adore red hair, watched the Forsyte Saga the other night. Love a bit of Damien Lewis. All that repressedness makes me want to slacken him off a bit. Blush

phrase hopefully you wl feel a bit better before your holiday, though I suspect a dab of fresh air will do you the world of good. Day 17 is amazing, you a a star!

beaches gotta say, still have a hankering for the red furry pile...twas a wondrous thing... It never failed to raise a smile. I haven't dated a redhead since, more's the pity. Sad
Maybe I should just buy a little merkin and keep it in my bag, give it a wee clap when I'm feeling stressed.

spaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnna where are you? Are you okay my darling? Xx

Break time almost over, best up and at 'em. Some lovely ones in today, I've already been given a wee cuddle. Made my day..

Hope everyone has a lovely day, wherever they may be, xxxx

dementedma · 25/09/2014 09:47

wry how many people are going to be confused by you "giving it a wee clap" lol!

aliasjoey · 25/09/2014 11:03

wry - 'bean juice touching your egg' ? 'big red furry pile' ?? 'give it a wee clap' ??? Hmm

What the hell are you on Babe and can I have some of it?

aliasjoey · 25/09/2014 11:04

ma those are lovely photos - your DD is quite a stunner!

babyjane1 · 25/09/2014 12:11

aliasjoey · 25/09/2014 12:33

beachestoexplore · 25/09/2014 12:54

Lovely photo's Ma and damn, that's a fine cake!!

babyjane1 · 25/09/2014 13:05

It's not working with this new version on my iPhone.... I want to see Ma's girl, I'm not well and this isn't fair!!!!! Xxxxx

venusandmars · 25/09/2014 13:16

wry snorting with laughter at you keeping a wee merkin in your bag Grin

My only experience with a red head (although it wasn't his head that bothered me) was with a bloke who sort of squeaked and squealed during sex. Kind of reminded me of a ginger pig something to do with the pink flesh through red....
