On the whole it seems completely normal. It's just out (which is rare!) that I have a twinge really

99 There are one of those bubble tea shops in the city near where I live too - ooshi right? That's weird as I think there is only 1 in the UK ......

TeapotDictator · 12/10/2014 00:25

Oh what a marvellous night out I've had. With two of my oldest friends. We went out locally to some reet trendy places, I didn't feel tempted to drink well only a tiny bit but best of all we had just such a laugh together. Tears streaming down my face, I really enjoyed myself. Very aware, as I always am, of what the evening would have felt like had I been drinking. I doubt it would have been very messy, but I know I would have been acutely aware of my need/desire to drink faster/more than the others. Wondering if we could swing by the shop on the way back to mine and whether the others would think it conspicuous if I picked up a bottle of wine to carry on back at mine. It's all just so much more peaceful this way.

BigglesFliesUndone · 12/10/2014 08:33

That is just wonderful! such a great feeling isn't it Grin

Got99problems · 12/10/2014 09:21

Teapot what a fab night out - and lovely to be able to remember what you were laughing about the next day! I had a night in with X-Factor (almost enough to drive me to drink - they certainly don't sound better sober!)
Lucy ours is a bubble heaven concession in a chinese supermarket, so probably a different place! Woke up at 4am with indigestion because of that damned bubble! The rest tasted good though once I got the hang of not swallowing it whole Grin
Off for lunch with a friend today, nice not to be stressing about whether I can have a glass of wine when driving (and feeling like one wouldn't be enough)

Haggismcbaggis · 12/10/2014 11:00

Hiiiii! Sorry MN went down and I'm a little behind.

Biggles & Lucy - bah I would have loved to have done Friday. It's v v unlikely as I have a massive company accounts deadline this Friday and I have been putting off stuff for .... months. Will try and pull finger out of arse and get it done. So, I'm a "maybe". Lucy - uni sounds amazing - but exhausting. I'm sure that will ease up to some degree when you get into the swing.

Teapot - how wonderful that you had such a good night out with your friends. It helps so much to know that night's out can be better than before doesn't it.

I had my first sober dinner party on Friday. (Guest not host). I was dreading it as it was just 4 of us and I don't know them well at all - guy is a friend of my husbands. As it turns out it was good as the woman was pregnant and trying to hide it (badly - nothing escapes me like an undrunk glass of wine Wink) so they weren't up for a late one. That offset my fear that it would be very boozy as she works in the wine industry.

Very excited about these end of Oct anniversaries. So cool!!

Haggismcbaggis · 12/10/2014 11:01

Ps: 99probs - I, very confused about indigestion giving bubble tea. Off to google same!

Haggismcbaggis · 12/10/2014 11:03

Ok. I'd thought it was something to do with a hookah! They look minging ladies.

TeapotDictator · 12/10/2014 11:31

Got99 - we finished off back at mine watching X Factor too... I'm not a fan but one of my friends was trying to appear as though she was only fairly nonchalantly into it but failing badly. I always think it's a laugh watching these things with friends because everyone ALWAYS has an opinion...

Re. meet ups, I'm doing a meet up in London on 25th Oct (via Soberistas, I'm organising... what was I thinking... Hmm) if anyone's interested... :)

Lucy2610 · 12/10/2014 12:11

Morning all :)
99 aah so not same place then and congrats on great night out! Haggis Bubble teas are weird - but def not minging!! No worries re Friday, keep us posted on your 'will she won't she' status Wink
Teapot Soberistas? I shall have to look out for you as I am there too but under my real name. Would love to come but that's the day before my bday and it will be family time

BigglesFliesUndone · 12/10/2014 20:57

Interesting talk with dh earlier. He does like to drink and I sometimes think too much but that's neither here nor there really. I asked him if he missed me drinking, being his drinking partner kind of thing and he said that on occasions, when we are out, he misses the first couple we had together but doesn't miss the end of the evening which would always be a disaster.

I asked him because I miss that sometimes and I miss the mad drunk sex that used to happen - OK so I couldn't always remember it Grin Blush but it does change when you become sober.

Apart from that I am still so happy to be no longer drinking. I have had a furious online situation with a woman in an fb group (I know!!!) this weekend but was obviously a) in the right completely Wink. and b) able to elucidate my arguments and get the upper hand without impulsively and drunkenly being abusive!

All good stuff Grin. hope everyone is OK.

BigglesFliesUndone · 14/10/2014 09:20

Me again! Really very down this morning. Two of my old friends have died in the last few weeks, both in their fifties, both from smoking related illnesses. It's kind of really got to me and I feel just so sad. And scared to be honest. My lifestyle was rubbish for so many years. What if it catches up?

Sad. :(

Lucy2610 · 14/10/2014 09:49

Biggles So sorry to hear about your losses and your sadness. Understandable that you are feeling sad and scared and I would be feeling the same too. Maybe a scone and coffee might help? :)

BigglesFliesUndone · 14/10/2014 10:20

I reckon a scone (cheese) and a coffee (cappuccino) would be wonderful!

Lucy2610 · 14/10/2014 10:38

You could always go get one now or in the next couple of days? Wink

BigglesFliesUndone · 14/10/2014 10:50

Thursday sounds good Grin

70hours · 15/10/2014 17:30

Hi all - I want advice re how long it takes to get LFT to get back to normal (if anyone knows?) - I have to have full bloods done and I am scared that LFT will come back abnormal !

I haven't had a drink in 3 days (and one night of drinking out of the last 6). However all the stuff I have read on liver disease cirrhosis has scared me witless and there is no chance of me drinking anytime soon !!!! Instead I am walking (about 5 miles a day) and eating liver healing foods/drinks (lots of fresh healthy fruits/begs etc). Feeling better already (although stomach doesn't know what's hit it). Hoping to become a regular poster in here now x
