The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Kicking The *Wine Witch* Into Touch, Because Enough Is Enough!

Hello, tis me, Mouse :)

This is a thread for those who are worried about their drinking habits towards alcohol, or/and drugs.

Even if you think that you are drinking more tonight than last night or this week than last, come and have a chat, find a seat, we don't bite! Wink

We are a supportive Bus, full of very different posters, from various backgrounds. Some of us drink in moderation, allowing ourselves the odd glass or two as a treat, or just because we're in control of our drinking for that day.

One Day At A Time.

We have those who abstain completely, and those who wake every day to Day 1 and hope with all of their hearts that they can, and will, make it to Day 2.

If you've followed our journey to date, you'll know who most of us are by now :) and we kind of have two 'sayings', that sum up who we are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

That said, we will not have any bashing of support groups, such as AA or Community Support Teams or even your own GP.

This Bus is a place for honesty, sanctuary and safety, something that has taken four years for a number of very special, very lovely, very honest and caring Babes to establish.

So, come find a seat, grab something warm from the supply cupboard at the back of the Bus as it's going to be cold tonight! Brrrr!

And, if you'd like to read back over some of our history, HERE IS THE LAST THREAD

And, HERE IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

We hope to meet you soon :) xxx

Haggismcbaggis · 12/11/2013 21:03

Rural - well done on day3. Hope you get your RL stuff sorted.

Im - are you ok?

Haggismcbaggis · 12/11/2013 21:06

Babyjane - ill see you your 5 hobnobs and raise you countless Moam chews left over from Halloween.

Meet - it sounds tough your Dp being away so much but well done on your a/f weekend! I find mid weeks doable but struggle massively to think of an a/f weekend so well done.

babyjane1 · 12/11/2013 21:14

haggis you made me smile, im are you ok? Xxx

SocFish · 12/11/2013 21:14

Hello All

I'm hope you're ok.....

Wednesday morning here. Today is actually day 12, not yesterday. Bugger. Been rereading a lot of drinking stuff on here, Jason Vale etc. It really helps to remind me of how shit it gets when I drink. The Guilt, The Fear, the hiding bottles, the constant "how can I get another drink". Yet I'm really struggling with staying sober. But I'm doing ok.

baby I used to do exactly the same. Two bottles on the go and pretend that I was only drinking one. Because one bottle is ok (in who's world!?), yet I was regularly putting away two bottles.

I did realise yesterday during all my navel gazing that my liver doesn't twitch anymore. Must keep reading back on all of this.

Sorry to not nc. Am rushing to get kids to school (so much easier without a hangover) and myself to work (ditto).

Sorry about all the me me me stuff. Hope you're all doing ok.
xxx

babyjane1 · 12/11/2013 21:15

rural your doing brilliantly, every day's a victory xxx

SocFish · 12/11/2013 21:19

rural I second what baby said. Every single day without alcohol is awesome. And the first few days are by far the worst. xx

buggermewhatnext · 12/11/2013 21:24

Hi all you luvery babes :)
What a day! so busy just decuttering the pit house.
This non-drinkin lark certainly frees up brain space and give more time. Suddenly I actually care about sorting the sock drawer out!
Done dd2 packed lunch, this is usually prepared in a mad rush in the morning!, washing up is actually done too! bloody hec!
Taken self off to bed as have urge to eat rubbish and that just drains and bloats me.
Trying to do a low carb diet and on day 2. That initsef is hard enough. I truly hope these things get easier and I can see some results soon..

Hi haggis sounds like your doing well. Am thinking of getting that Caroline Knapp book is it like her autobiography? Did you get it from Amazon?
Hi baby faire and ma
Hi meet good on you for the af weekend bet it helps that dp is on board with you.
Hi im how is it going today?
Hi rural great day three. You got a boing yet?
Hi to all other babes as well. Im reading on a daily basis and its soo comforting knowing that there are others in the same boat. Others who truly get it.
Well im actually in bed on laptop and now going to snuggle down with a good book- might go mad and have a mug of hot chocolate :)
Keep fighting the good fight babes as the alternative is too grim for words x

spanna41 · 12/11/2013 21:27

Day 9 and I fell off the bus, bollocks, fuck Blush

Anne you are doing so well and the rest of you AF babes

Bollocks shit I'm so fucked off with myself Sad

Urgh Sad

Fairenuff · 12/11/2013 21:37

spanna you should copy that out and keep it somewhere for the next time you are tempted. So you have nine days under your belt, that's good going. Tomorrow you will have another af day. Don't let this derail you.

Do the drill, lots of water, clean teeth, go to bed and tomorrow get right back on it. That's an order from Sergeant Major Nuff! Grin

Hi buggerme lovely to hear from you, I agree with you that it's amazing how much can be done during those non drinking hours. Good idea to get off to bed instead of nibbling. Don't think I will be up for much longer either.

dementedma · 12/11/2013 21:38

spanna into the sidecar with you, my girl.
Sleep it off and start again tomorrow.
I'm please let us know you are ok.
soc you are doing brilliantly. Are you driving the bus again tonight?

SocFish · 12/11/2013 21:50

thanks ma. Yes, I'll drive. Hang on tight because I'm in a mood.

spanna I've stopped and started more times than I care to remember. Don't feel bad. 9 days is incredible. It's fucking hard. Lots of water and opal fruits and in the side car with you.... xx

spanna41 · 12/11/2013 21:50

Thank you Nuff I was hoping to get to 'double' figures and WILL Smile

Ma I've dragged the blanket from the bus, I hope you don't mind? Honestly that WW is a bitch.

Soc please squash her like a pancake. I hope you are driving tonight? Smile

Hello Beaches, I'm, Rural, Haggis, Mouse, Indes and all you lovely Babes

Spanna - off to bed and back in the bus first thing tomorrow.

Faire - I'm still thinking of the lovely spicy veggie soup (and the sherbet fountain). Mmmmm.

Buggerme - yes the Caroline Knapp book is available on Amazon. It's a memoir focused around her struggle to control her drinking and her ultimate recovery. It's very well written and moving too. I'd really recommend it.

Socfish glad you're driving us from tomorrow morning. I have got the Jason Vale book too.

I also read the dry thread - although this is the thread for me as I am trying controlled drinking.

Haggismcbaggis · 12/11/2013 22:12

Isinde sorry you are feeling shite too.
